Happy to talk deals.

It is indeed crazy. A nice chunk up front that youll never see again, then they bend you over once more if you do less than half the UK average mileage.
Agreed leasing is not for everyone but I’ve leased the Mrs car for her for the last 6 or so years.
It’s no different to a PCP if you have no intention of keeping the vehicle after 3 years.
We lease ours every 2 years and get a fresh one you can adjust milage and deposit to suit your needs and budget works for us as she likes to upgrade after a few years.

For arguments sake my Mrs mates husband as a buzz on a pcp he gave £12,000 as deposit and £600 a month for 4 years then a balloon at the end if he keeps which I doubt he will makes the deal above not that bad my opinion of course.

We lease Mrs Sasquatch's cars. Typically nothing to £750 up front depending on what she chooses (the choice isnt huge with the firm she uses, but they do a scheme very favourbale deals for people in her field of work), 60,000 mile limit over the three year term, £249 a month and that includes tax and insurance.

PCP is insanity. Even worse, you have to pay to maintain, repair and service a car you don't even own. People must have money to burn to do that, the irony being that if they really did have money to burn they would have to resort to PCP.

I've always bought mine outright and then keep 20 or 25 years, the exception being the Mini which I recently traded against the T6.1 (my hip is going and I was struggling to climb out so my hand was forced there.) The bad news is it doesn't impress the neighbours and I'm never in fashion for long, but the good news is I won't need to keep working until I'm eleventy-eight to pay for it all,

I recently calculated that since I started driving in the 80's I've saved in the region of £200-250k buy buying outright and sticking with it against the cost of buying a new one every 3 years on finance (the numbers would be even more tragic on PCP.)

I agree I buy mine also but she likes the peace of mind no costly repairs as under warranty no mots to worry about and road tax paid plus she gets a new car every couple of years. Also depreciation is also another factor

Thats why Mrs Sasquatch leases.

In my case deprecation is never an issue over such a long period, and the money I've saved could buy a house, never mind pay for major repairs (not that I ever have needed them).

Leasing makes sense, in many cases far better value than PCP, but the costs and mileage terms for the Buzz in the ad above are hilarious. They're clearly hoping to make their money on the mileage penalties.
