Inlet manifold removal

Yours looks more sooty mine oily sludge I was expecting more to get what you have @blasi wonder what could be the issue could it be my faulty injector seals?

I did think the same when I compared the pictures. Could it perhaps be oil from the turbo?

You’ve been dealt a rough hand there! If it’s any consolation I’m pretty dam sure my turbo and dpf are a ticking time bomb, just patiently waiting to soil itself at the most inconvenient time possible

Removed inlet manifold today and replaced with brand new one
Quite different removing bolt behind fuel pump but all done ,like a new van old manifold blocked
Had a quote to do this and they said needs new to remove the HPFP if that doesn’t need doing then I would tackle it myself. How do you get to the bolt and get it out if the pump is in the way?

Ah so remove the bolts bar the bottom left. And pull it to the side
There’s actually a tool in the workshop manual to loosen that one bolt. Weird U shaped spanner thing, but I think you can still get to the bolt with an ordinary spline bit and socket and extension. Gonna remove mine next weekend. I found an online only free access workshop manual that shows you the steps to remove the manifold

I used a torx bit that I had chopped in half slid into a ratchet spanner and it came out no bother I had more trouble with the middle bottom bolts.

Hello
I have changed the inlet manifold. It was a work of 7 hours. You do not need to remove the HP fuel pump.
Please ask me if you need more information.

I’m in the position where I need to replace mine. How do you get the boot out behind the pump? Or does it just need loosening?

Where is the manual? I think I need it

Only what could be seen mate, nothing invasive
My runner flap has failed and air is peeing out the side. Tempted to buy the service pins and get cracking myself. Does bottom left bolt of the manifold pull off the metal sleeve with the cut out? Or do you pull it off the sleeve and slide it to the right to get it out? Looks a pig of a job but I’ve done the alternator and PS pump so have slight knowledge I guess

if it’s the same as mine none of the bolts slide out every one of the bolts has to come out.

I ended up booking it in to be done as can’t be dealing with the stress lol. £ 850 part and labour so not too bad I guess.

How did you end up getting those two bottom middle bolts out? Did you move anything or just find a way to squeeze in. I’ve loosened a clamp holding the coolant pipes but they barely move still. Going to get my camera on it tomorrow and see if I can find access to the bolts.

I managed to move the coolant pipes right out of the way they were a bit of a chew on to get out but nowhere near as bad as the top left
