Insurance Companies

NFU were by far the cheapest option for me. They wanted to know that it was registered as a ‘motor caravan’ and that the converter and conversion was recognised and approved.
Yes, this is what I have always found, I think I will have to ask to speak to a manager and press the issue, it shouldn’t make any difference where the vehicle is, I am the Owner.
Using that logic, I wonder then if the same applies when your vehicle is in a dealership being worked on, do they suspend your Policy until the work is finished……Bonkers…Not a happy chappie!

I’ve been with Adrian Flux for 5 years and always challenge their renewal premium successfully. However I’m uncomfortable when they state they don’t want my conversion and mod list as I’m covered for £50K, which will cover the list.
This year they’ve introduced a “Agreed value request form” which requests all mods and condition of various areas of the vehicle. It also includes pics of various areas of the vehicle too. If I don’t complete the form then they advise Ageas will pay out as per their terms, whatever that means. AF require £15 admin to process the form!
I think this smells like a nice additional money earner. Has anyone else experienced this with AF.

Hi everyone, I was going to start a new thread and then came across this one.
So this is an insurance question from a new owner. Took possession of my new 23 reg 5 seat kombi highline T32 with 1968cc auto diesel. My exisitng company (quote me happy) only insure cars and told me to go to AVIVA. I did a quick Go compare type check with "Van compare" They gave me a comparison list quoting between £690 to £900 to insure fullly comp. I am a social domestic user with 9+ years NCB and am somewhat suprised at the prices as the insureance on my previous vehicle, a top of the range 2.2 litre Jeep Rubicon was £500 a year. Can someone piont me at where I should be getting insurance from please as "van compare" seem rather high. Thanks for reading.

Im with A-Plan for my work T6 and LV for my T6 camper. If you speak with A-plan tell them you are a T6F member and they should give you a discount.

I flit between LV and Direct Line depending on renewal prices.

If you intend to carry out modifications, you are probably better going with a specialist provider rather than the run of the mill companies on the comparison sites.

I had the suspension lifted , alloy wheels and a rear spoiler. Any other mods I do will be around a more luxurious interior, i dont plan to make it into a camper or anything. Do I ned to go to a specialist with these mods please?

I was with Directline with the old T6 but I’m with LV trough A Plan with the new T6.1.

I just tried go compare and got quoted between £9000 and £1500 LoL.
lets go look at Direct Line. My van is privately owned do A-Plan cover non business users and roughly whats everyone else paying ...ball park figures, if you dont mind sharing please?

HaHAHA- Direct line say my van doesnt exist nor does it recognise the registratio number. look like a phone call ragher than an onine quote for me.

My new T6.1 with mods, protected 15 yrs no claims with no points etc etc fully comp, age 58 , IP postcode was around £450pa with A- Plan.

Brentacre for the last 5 years. But I may be looking at A plan next time out. Brentacre do enjoy charging an admin fee whenever you need something doing.

Non Business use with Brentacre, 2017 T28 150 , In course of conversion to camper, all mods declared, value currently at £30,000, cost me £325 last april

JustKampers for me. I had two vans with them. New van is on agreed value, which I can increase once the conversion is complete. I changed the reg on the old van easily via the app so I could keep the plate.

I sold the old van this week, and they helpfully held the insurance on a dummy plate to the end of next month, so I will be able to transfer a full extra year’s no claims to the new van. No, I’d never heard of that either.

So far they have been good - lowest price for my camper, OK to insure a conversion in progress, and handy app to hold the documents and do some updates.

I did actually end up going with NFU and they gave me a good price, I think £530 odd.
Vehicle is lifted, alloys, leather and lots of other modifications which they seemed pretty non plussed about.
I have had all my vehicles with NFU over the last 10 years or so and their prices have always been the best.
I would try them amongst the others that have been suggested you may he pleasantly surprised.
