Insurance Companies

I so wanted to stay out of this, but honestly I'm not engaging because this, to me, isn't what the forum is about. It's too much like being at work. I just take insurance up the aris like most folk and shop around for a deal. Sorry, a bit bored by this thread.. end of chat from me.
Completely agree.

Also I can see that this isn’t an isolated incident. It seems to have happened on other threads.

I think you'll find the 'threads gone "bad" ' ratio pretty low and well below other Forums averages.....
I don’t think the threads are going bad, I think people aren’t engaging because they’re seeing more negative behaviour. The threads just aren’t going anywhere.

This forum was always about positivity and helping each other.

Notice how no one is engaging in this debate because you can’t accept someone has a different viewpoint and then get hostile towards them.

I’ve presented facts and evidence to back up my viewpoint.

Calling your response “prickly” is trying to rationalise the unacceptable tone of your responses.

I welcome everyone’s opinion and presentation of facts regarding the discussion. However, no member is going to take your opinion seriously because you’re clearly unhappy that someone has questioned the industry you work in and therefore can’t enter in to a rational debate. You’ve given your opinion but presented no evidence to back it up.

Telling someone to “run to teacher” is extremely rude and down right offensive. Especially from a moderator. Is this the culture this site is now promoting?
Don't sweat it - I feel no animosity towards you. When my kids were younger, they "knew everything" and reacted badly to having their opinions challenged, much like you have.

Ha! This reminds me of my dear old Mom when my elder brother and I had many an argument! In the days before child welfare was a thing, she would say, 'I'll bang your bloody heads together'! Classy bird my Mom!
She sounds like a sweetheart. My old chap used to say "Do I need to get the hammer out the toolbox?"
Another classic was "I'll do time for you no problem."

When me and my brother were too loud when the cricket was on grandad would say “why don’t you go and play on the railway line?”. Sometimes we’d get the choice of the motorway too.
Happy days.

After some advice, got 6 points for using mobile phone couple of years ago and have got a new Kombi looking to convert, any suggestions for a provider who is fairly reasonable when it comes to points

Difficult to recommend a specific insurer tbh.

For a standard kombi, by using the usual online comparison websites and you'll be hitting 95%+ of the market and you can [relatively] easily see who’s most competitive for you.

For a camper (or an ongoing conversion), you really need a specialist, so the comparison websites aren't much use and you need to ring around all the insurers listed in this thread. It's quite an onerous exercise, but if you explain your circumstances and your intention to convert, hopefully you'll find an insurer that matches your requirements.

Good news. Both car and van insurance up for renewal, both have decreased. £300 saved on both, think it must be because my lad has hit 25!

I got a quote from Howdens and I was surprised, came out at £650, 50K vehicle value with extras listed, based on 5K. Seems very reasonable to me, was expecting it to be 000's

Hi Guys,

I’m with “Brentacre” insurance. I’m trying to access my account and view /print my certificate of insurance?! But can’t seem to find a place on their website to do so? Has anyone come across the same issue, or been able to access their policy ok?

Many thanks

Paul

I usually find it easier in these situations to go back through my emails to this time last year, or thereabouts & find the confirmation email. There's usually a link to access your docs.

I went with Howden insurance. Short story, I sold my BMW around 4 years ago as I moved withing walking distance of work, no need for 2 cars so I carried on as named driver on the wife's car, forward 4 years I've lost all my no claims because I was not aware if I didn't have my own insured vehicle you lose no claims after 3 years.
Quote time and the quotes were ridiculous! Brentacre wouldn't insure me so after another recommendation I phoned Howden and managed to get it for £550 fully comp with Mrs added and breakdown cover, shout out to them, great communication and service!

+1 for Howdens. Easy to deal with, good price and they don't get 'sniffy' about further mods.

Right. So it's that time of the year where the Tax and Insurance is up for renewal.
Purchased the Van in 2022 and went with A-Plan/Howdens at what I thought was a decent price of £400.
2023 renewal quote came through of £480, 20% increase and I could live with that as I couldn't be arsed with all the faff of changing insurers, fast forward to an hour ago, another increase of 25% taking it to £590, same old waffle about inflation and what not, they didn't take into account depreciation of the vehicle, for them to consider that I need to get a requote, go figure.

Got a few online quotes from page #1 of this thread and:
  • Motorhome safeguard came in at £470
  • Just Kampers @ £710
    • Within 10 minutes of receiving that quote I received a call from JK, got put through to their underwriters and lo and behold they quoted £465 and that includes them giving me a tracker and the annual subscription of said gadget.
Now just got the hassle of getting Howdens to send me proof of NCB.
