Something to be careful of: If you give a lower insurance value figure then they’ll go with that even if the market value is higher. At renewal you have to keep an eye on the figure they give. I’ve got a new for old policy currently and at my last renewal I had to up my insured figure to cover the price increase of a new replacement. Will be going agreed value when I next renew as new for old will no longer be available to me.Just as a point of order, it doesn't matter what an insurer "values" it at today. It's irrelevant.
Market value on the day it is written off is what matters, and that is easily evidenced by way of the vast volume of adverts for used vehicles. You'd be entitled not to it's trade value, but the the retail value of a similar replacement, and the ombudsman has become quite hot over this the last couple of years.
Don't give a figure unless you're buying an agreed value polocy - just state "market value" and place the ball in their court. Some won't like that, so just go to the next one.Something to be careful of: If you give a lower insurance value figure then they’ll go with that even if the market value is higher. Have you considered purchasing a standalone AV policy?Only issue is they won’t do agreed value.
I phoned a few companies last year and none would do it unless I insured with them. The only companies I can recall who said no were Adrian Flux and Just Kampers and they were both well over £1k for an ordinary policy. I can’t remember the others, Howden’s didn’t respond to me when I sent them the details a couple of weeks ago.Have you considered purchasing a standalone AV policy?
@Drive Wayne, who did you use?...if you know of any who’ll do a standalone policy I’ll gladly give them a call!
Adrian Flux, who used Trinity Lane as their Agreed Value Policy company. You can't buy directly from Trinity Lane though.@Drive Wayne, who did you use?
Hmm I wonder if they refused me because they’d given me an ordinary quote and I wouldn’t take a policy out with them.. I’ll try them againAdrian Flux, who used Trinity Lane as their Agreed Value Policy company. You can't buy directly from Trinity Lane though.
I’ve heard this the last couple of years. I think they are not taking on new campers but happy to renew existing clients - and still at good prices.LV told me they don’t insure campervans any more (?!?)
I thought AF were the least fussy of all! I called them with 25+ days to go until renewal, and must say they looked after me to the tune of £150 less than the year before. I claimed on a bike policy previously with them and they were so good, I can only recommend them. My bike is still with them and my daughters Fiat 500 policy before passing her test is ridiculously cheap. I'm sure they will sting us when she passes her test!Hmm I wonder if they refused me because they’d given me an ordinary quote and I wouldn’t take a policy out with them.. I’ll try them again
I've just gone with them. Great priceAdrian Flux, who used Trinity Lane as their Agreed Value Policy company. You can't buy directly from Trinity Lane though.
