All depends, if you cause a fire through negligence/incompetence, the insurers might play awkward. But that could happen no matter who does the electrics. The insurance wil be valid from a 3rd party POV. It all depends on what the claim is for.

Hi, thanks for reply. Want to inform insurers about electrical equipment inverter etc.. (expensive) do you know if they would want certificate from qualified electrician for install ?

Some might ask, most won't.

As Spuds points out, even the ones that won't ask might take a great deal of sudden interest if your van self immolates due to an electrical fault.

Best to contact your insurer if you are in any doubt - just to ask before you do it.
You don't want a cancelled insurance policy. That is like having a criminal record.
