Issues with Delivery of new Van

My understanding is the log book arrives within 6 weeks using HNV so they must operate slightly differently. I just wanted to add that HNV are being really helpful in trying to sort out the matter as they have been caught in middle as well. It seems as if another broker was taking the mick with reselling on but now a lot of other brokers have been impacted as VW have started a full audit. Hopefully it will get sorted so everyone is happy with the deal.

I think this thread needs a note of caution.
As much as the next person I like to feel that I've got a good deal but this thread has the potential to cause damage to the businesses involved.
I'm guilty of jumping in and fanning the flames - I have a van on order and was very concerned that the order might be affected.
HNV e-mailed me this morning having seen the comments on here and I subsequently had a telephone conversation with them.
HNV uses a number of VW dealers. It would seem that in the past certain over-zealous dealers have made life very difficult for brokers (not just HNV) and their ability to access fleet terms.
This is a public forum with the potential to draw unwanted attention to who can access the fleet terms.
I'd like to see all brokers continue to flourish and offer fleet discounts to private buyers. I don't have any affiliation with any broker, other than a vested interest in the happy conclusion of my order.

(Now where did I put that hard hat?......)

I appreciate where you coming from but....

Look at it this way, if you are expecting delivery of a vehicle for the first of April that it does not turn up or is not as ordered your left in serious limbo in manny ways. Firstly transport, secondly business disruption and thirdly assume its a cash buy and your year end is the 5th of April.
Its just caused you a lot of grief, @StudleyGlass sort of had the first two problems and the dealer put him in a loner at their expense until his vehicle arrived, would or could HNV do this for several months?

I had a similar issue to someone on here is having with a van and I think they are looking into rejecting it. I had formally reject a vehicle that was 8 months ish old a while back and its unbelievably stressful and caused huge disruption to my business, the contract of sale is with the person you hand the money too. In my case a franchised dealer so its them who I stared down the barrel with over a 30k of vehicle.
I was lucky and skilful and came out just about on top, would a broker be able to do the same and assist in such a way to such a level?

Im a great believer that you buy cheep you buy twice, its also the whole buying experience that needs to be looked at rather than the simple black and white of a invoice price.

I have no experience of HNV just seen the comments and experiences of others on this forum and the old one and tie that to my own experiences and knowledge of the motor industry.
Its a public forum and I'm not trying to destroy theres or other business with similar models just hopefully make people think of the bigger picture. I will add that I do run fleet of 11 vehicles and I do get fleet terms with some manufactures (not VW, I'm too small) and from what I know and have seen HNV are operating in a grey area and balancing on a knife edge.
I not a fan of most main dealers or their prices or attitudes but if they where not there where would you take your vehicle for warranty work, parts and overpriced servicing with a golden stamp? Though that being said some out there do provide a service that is above and beyond and will put a competitive deal together if you get the right person and know what buttons to push.

HNV instead of lurking in the shadows why not come and put your point across and contribute?

I never knew of them or I would have ordered my Cali through one though I wonder how much cheaper it would have been

Their won't be a massive discount for fleet buyers for Cali's etc , so I doubt any broker would be worth going to.

This broker issue just go's round and round and won't ever go away whilst VW has different prices depending on which door you go through . Anybody going in the 'retail' door just gets ripped off whilst those going in the 'fleet' door get a good discount . All the brokers do is buy your van through the fleet side and pass on some of the discount- the discount is given on condition that the vehicle is not sold for a period of time and hence not devaluing the product. It's why they want the log book, if the vans sold early the 'extra' discount must be repaid.

As quick as the brokers get caught and orders cancelled they just find new suppliers and start the ball rolling again.

Its a gamble - the van turns up you win/ you loose if it don't.

Theirs probably an equal number of happy owners v pissed off ones that wasted 4/5 months for nothing.

Their are also legit brokers like conversion /tuners etc that buy for customers but they stick to the agreements made with VW and only discount what their allowed to.

As a public forum it also has the potential to give good publicity to brokers who are legit and provide a good service. I guess all brokers go through this from time to time if VW happens to audit the supplying dealer. VW clearly have a product with more demand than supply so they will naturally try to limit broker sales which reduce their margins

@YellowHound no need for a hard hat.

I agree we need to be careful with reputations, damaging them can have big effects and they are fragile things. Having said that I have not yet read any thread that could be described as reckless.

The main reason I visit this site is to help me make informed decisions and eventually to help others do so. I did not look at brookers but I appreciate the appeal to keep costs down or spec up.
If I did consider them them I would expect this forum and it members would assist me in weighing up the pros vs the cons.

The cons in this case seem to be a chance of a cancelled order for the benefit of up to double the discount I got from a dealer.
If I knew this going in and could accept the risk and the impact and decide to do it anyway, all is good.
Even if it did go wrong, I would have proceeded at risk, knowing what I was doing.

So I agree let's be careful (loose lips sink ships) but let's continue to keep everyone informed.

Ere sorry for all the preaching, stuck at an airport waiting .............

Yes, at the moment, waiting for HNV to answer the phone but funnily enough no luck!
Have you had an email regarding your order?
