Its taken 1 week for a warning light to come on

Well if you'd said 'mostly short' then I could see a reason for it, but not if it's motorway. Who's given you the 'advice'?

VW gave me that info and about 15 mins after the light went out.

Like you say its just odd it even came on given I do 60 miles a day of which 55 are at National speed limit.

Is there any way the appearance of the light could be a spurious CanBus error as a result of your bulb upgrade?

(I come from a bit of an IT background and when things went wrong the best way forward was often to take things back to a position of last known good even when the change seemed totally unrelated.)

NB. I'd never heard of a "CanBus" until I had an immobiliser installed when I got the van so wont be offended if someone tells me I am asking a dumb question and/or talking utter cr@p on this lol

I take same approach when building internal systems and things go a bit wrong ha

Lights have been fine for a week. The guy at VW didnt seem worried and once I had got upto speed it cleared within 5 mins as he advised it would.

I will simply keep my eye on it but really hoping a CANBUS cant be at fault as love my lights and just bought some fogs :(

Lighting is part of the 'convenience' canbus but engine/gearbox/abs is part of the 'powertrain' canbus so slightly separate.

As per the sticker on the window that light is indicating that the vehicle has failed to do an automatic dpf regen which occurs during normal driving, this can happen for a variety of reasons but if driving regularly on motorway most conditions are met only one that springs to mind is fuel level, needs a reasonable amount in tank before starting a regen cycle.

Could also be the dreaded faulty DPF differential pressure sensor saga if it keeps showing up..

It came on as I left petrol station after having 0 miles in tank so yet again Pauly is most likely bang on.

@PukkaT6 that is exactly what happened with the van that I sent back. Every time I went into reserve tank then filled up I would get the DPF warning light come on. Now this will happen a lot if you're a fan of the splash and dash approach to filling up, because the van won't do an automatic regen under a quarter of a tank, so it can't clear the crap out itself. If you are filling up to the brim and doing those sorts of journeys routinely and its still happening, and you're getting rubbish MPG, and if you start getting the dreaded engine management light coming on, then I'd start getting concerned. Having said that running down to o miles is probably provoking the DPF light to come on when the van's that new, so probably just a one off so see what happens at next fill up.

I was told it will only regen properly if you are at a constant speed doing exactly 2000 revs on a straight run and with a steady foot not cruise set at 85 its to higher revs ??? And won't regen I done 150 miles without stopping and when I pulled on the drive it was trying to regen !!!
And that's what I was told by VW tec guys
I hate dirty diesels!!!! Get me a 3lt petrol

Less than a week after replacing a dog of a car for my T6 150, this thread has me worried. Previous vehicle has left me just expecting things to go wrong.
Still 3/4 of my first tank left, and only 120 miles covered (avg 44mpg which I'm chuffed about), but going to find myself in a state of paranoia, watching for the DPF light.
