This message pops up on the MFD at random on cold start and disappears quickly. I understand that it is a common fault across the VAG range due to a gear selector sensor. Has anyone had the issue. Part number for the sensor etc

We have this message flash up for a split second in our Skoda, maybe once or twice a month, been doing it a few years and had no problems, definitely a glitch
Same here with my Octavia it is a faulty solenoid I believe. If it is the same as the skoda you cant replace the part and have to replace the whole gear selector which was cira £500 when I looked into it a few years ago so no doubt is more now

I've got the same issue. A chap who has sorted many of these says around £60 to sort the sensor. I'll get round to it one day. No actual issues apart from the message.

Had a similar thing with the wife's Audi after a gearbox software upgrade, they thought solenoid or hydraulic gearbox pump, in the end it was a new gearbox, luckily it was under warranty.
I followed the instructions on the MFD and walked to the dealership. Had a nice coffee and walked home. The message was still there - any advice would be appreciated
I’ve traced this part number as the replacement micro switch W5Q0 713 128A costs around £40
The part number appears to be common across VAG range.
Not found 100% suitable for T6.1 so will call TPS to double check
Can anyone confirm that this is a DIY job?
In my case the fault disappeared. I can only imagine that the micro switch was contaminated with something and cleared itself. Reading other VAG forums it does appear to be an inexpensive fix by fitting a new micro switch.
