Hi all. I've got the Sargent ec155 electrical system. When on leisure battery, the socket doesn't work. It works when on hookup. My wife is planning to go on a writing retreat for her PhD so will need this and maybe without electric hookup for few days. Is this a fault with the electrical system?

The basic EHU setup has the socket wired direct outside.

As above you need an inverter fitted.

Some install s will have a dedicated inverter socket.

More complex install will have a transfer switch over to use the same socket s.

Post some pics of what you have.

What kit are you planning to plug in when off grid? - this will give you an idea of what size inverter is needed.

What wattage is the laptop power brick?

You could get a small 100-200w that will cover that.

Bellow 90ish watts you can plug into a 12v socket.

Above 90w I'd be hard wireing it the leasure battery.

Then just run a small extension lead to give you a 240v socket run from the inverter....

.
I have a couple of these....

i have a a swap over switch from hook up to invertor supply to the sargent......invertor sorts me out when no hook up. bit of a faff but works a treat, if invertor not happy for any reason, which its norm fine as a big unit... you can run the engine so its keeping it happy with a bit more supply voltage, microwave, kettle etc..

@Dellmassive You said below 90w it’s fine to run from the 12v socket but the inverter you’ve shared is a 300w with a ciggy plug. Would you not use that near full whack then?
