Locked myself in the van!

The closest I’ve come is manually locking the door with my keys on the seat. Luckily I was at home and could get my spare set but it was a salutary warning of what can happen

I only have OBD11 which i don't think will do this.
Of course it does ;)
Control Units > Central Electrics (09) > Live data >
Channel 5 = Door contact switches,
Channel 6 = Bonnet, Tailgate/Barn Door switches, Lock/Unlock switch in driver door
Channel 7 = Door statuses (locked, unlocked, safe)

However, as usually you'd like to test these ignition off, the trick with OBDeleven is NOT to click Connect but instead to go directly (as above) to Control Units. It will take a while to establish the communication...

Another note, locking the van with all doors closed shuts down the BCM after approx. 60 secs.

it absolutely will not lock, unless i have the keys and the doors are shut.
On mine all depends whether drivers door is open. When drivers door is open - indeed nothing happens neither immediately nor later by closing the door. (Mine is LHD)

I can lock the van with the drivers door open,
That's interesting - what about having only passenger door open - can you lock the van also then? Just to eliminate LHD/RHD coding mismatch

Noted the below.
I can lock the van with any door still open!!!!! All others doors lock-
If you press the Lock button on the remote whilst a door is open, nothing happens UNTIL you close the doors, then the van will lock itself.

Mine will lock with a door open. Close the open door and that will lock and flash the indicators. Every VW I've had since 1999 has done that.

The other thing is when I just unlock the tailgate with the remote, nothing else unlocks. Close the tailgate and that relocks and flashes the indicators. Put the keys down in the 'boot' and that's a sure fire way of locking them in.

Thanks for your help @Dellmassive, good to know there is a problem which needs sorting out, cant afford £100 every time my keys are locked in the van.
Go down to your local Timpsons & get a cheap £10 non-transponder key cut. This will open the doors & set the alarm off, but it get’s you back in the van. I’ve secreted mine in an external spot on the van.

The Auto re-lock is a feature on all VAG cars/vans.

its a security feature, so when you sit on your keys in your pocket at home and unlock the van from your living room . . . . without realising.

the van will wait 30sec or so, then if NO DOOR is opened it will RE-LOCK the whole van.

And that's the reason why I wouldn't disable it. I'm always accidentally unlocking the van while my keys are in my pocket.

My van will do nothing with any door open, when the last door is closed all doors lock
this is odd . . .

some people have different effects.? - wonder why?

whith your setup, you could leave the keys on the seat or in the rear of the van, close the last door - then keys locked in van!!!

mine wont let me do that?

wonder what the difference is?

my van is MY18 PV with the factory uprated metasat alarm (gives me additional USonic sensors(not used) + battery backed up siren + beeps at me when i set/unset alarm + additional red warning led for windscreen + will beep at me if i leave any door or window open) - i had the similar fitted on the T5.1

looks like they do a version with microwave sensor now. - pics up all sensors via the CAN BUS.

I did think this may be the case, SWMBO just thought I messing with my van as the alarm kept going off hence she ignored it

In the end by pure luck my parents visited and let me me out after they heard me banging on the back window to get their attention.:oops:

LOl the back window is also blacked out, that didn't help much either.
Do we get to see some pics? :slow rofl:

Well had some time today to play with alarm/locking etc.
Firstly, I use the carisita to set things. I found that I had switched off auto locking, so that works fine, but I can lock myself inside the van and open any door after alarm set!!!! No deadlock why?

Now the alarm via carisita I set to on and sound horn 10 ties. Not a sound from the horn, but the flashers work showing the door has been opened. Why no sound?

It is a 2016 van and the key fob only has 2 buttons lock/unlock. The side sliding door can be opened and the alarm does not notice. I think it might be that there is no step light so will pull the floor apart tomorrow and look for wires!!!!

I think in my case there is some sort of alarm, but no sounder. Any help/thoughts etc would be great.

What does your build sheet >here< tell about safelock/deadlock and alarm?

The locking setup is partially in BCM coding - please post "Detailed ECU info"-report (under Carista Service menu)

Thanks for the pointer mmi - now I can see:

7AA Electronic immobilizer (Theft protection system) - so at least the basic stuff......

4I1 - Central locking system without SAFELOCK - no dead locks then...........

Hoping to have the Bearlock system fitted April time.

Fairly confident the above means no alarm installed because
4I2 - Central locking w/ radio remote control, interior control, without SAFELOCK - definitely does not have alarm installed

Just back from van and also do not think alarm is fitted - just think carisita is fooling system, so have set back to default. Will have a look at having an alarm fitted as well as the bearlock next year. Again thanks for pointers.

We need to take “window-licking” skills into account here. For all we know, @Texxaco may have thought he was back on the Sunshine Bus!!!

(JOG braces himself for the onslaught he will receive from @Texxaco and his better half! Both know me and could hand me my ass back on a plate quicker than anyone!)

In my defence licking the windows seems to get them cleaner that window cleaner ;)

Not looked at the doors locking issue yet but it is clearly not an easy thing to solve based in what @Qnapper has stated.

Yes, it seems like you’ve found an odd sort of problem in a rather funny sort of way!

Sadly so. Seems I need to put some time into working out the base of the problem as the windows are now clean.
