Looking to sell my new t6.1. Advice.

Hi all,

We recently purchased a T6.1 110 Highline with a reversing camera, 2x swivel seats and 4x windows (2 safari and 2 rear quarters) recently installed.

We are getting married next year and struggling financially so we are looking at selling the van unfortunately. It's a 23 plate with only 6k miles and was wondering if anyone would be able to help us with where to sell and what to look out for?

Any help is appreciated

Thank you,

We love it as well. We wanted to initially slowly convert it in stages but now the realization of the wedding and the money we will need to spend on it is concerning. But I know what you mean, spending all this money for others.

Do it over time, waking up the morning after the wedding is depressing enough. To then realise you gave up a van you love for it also to please others. Most overrated day ever, gone in the blink of an eye.

Got to agree with all the comments above - can’t help feeling you’ll regret it.

After attending numerous weddings of cousins, friends etc., we decided a small ceremony outside the UK was better for us. Immediate family invites themselves along (and paid for themselves). And it was great. We saved about 20k based on average prices even way back then!
I was just sick of the aunts and uncles covertly (and even overtly) comparing every little detail of each wedding - from flowers, to number of guests, how many drinks at the free bar etc.
We were determined to make it our day, how we wanted it. And it was perfect.
Keep the van. You’ll be kicking cling yourselves if you don’t.

We had 14 people at the church bit, then a meal after. A do at the village hall in the evening for about 100 or so. We did it for less than £2k, albeit 23 years ago, but I reckon you'd do similar for around £5k these days.

The biggest saving was we were flying to Florida on 9-11 and were one of those that made a quick detour and dropped down in Gander. I really didn't want to go in the first place, so it all worked out for me in the end when we finally got our money back.

You come here for van advice and bingo we give you wedding advice...

Aren't we a helpful bunch?

(Can't help find myself agreeing with some of the above comments about you coming to a day in the not too distant future where you regret blowing the van on 1 day's fun for other people...)

Couldn’t agree more.

Although this is coming from someone who has been co-habiting for 36 years so I’m probably not the best person to be giving wedding advice!! :slow rofl:

But… my partner’s sister did the same as you, we attended the wedding and we all had an amazing two weeks in Mauritius.

Nothing on earth could make me fork out tens of thousands for a piss up for others, especially when some is for family members I don’t even like - and definitely wouldn’t be selling my van for it…

But each to their own

A van is just a van. Don't sweat it if you have to sell it.

Some very salient points here on traditional weddings.
We got married in Kenya 30 years ago, just me, the Mrs and 2 Thompson reps.....and a few red arsed monkeys who tried to muscle in.
I recall it cost us 650 quid each.....
We didn't want to indulge our families who are mostly complete w&%£ers.

I didn’t invite half my family members and still haven’t been forgiven! Only people invited was nearest and dearest and close friends but each to their own. Had around 40 in the day 100 on the night cost around 7k 6 years ago. Biggest saving Mrs chose her dress around the £3500 mark then found suppliers details from china and went direct and cost £500. Big risk but paid off handsomely. Just goes to show the mark up these people make.
But also I do understand everyone’s circumstances are different and needs must etc and sacrifices need to be made. Best of luck whatever the outcome and hope you have a great day

My good lady wife has just said, "put the wedding back a year, see how you feel about the van", one of our special clergy members (we have a couple) could marry you at Busfest! 1000's of guests free of charge, plus clergy fees of course...! I will even bring an organ!

Wedding are over-rated and super-commercial!

SWMBO and I got married in the middle of reworking our house and doing IVF (privately as I was a smoker!) I took a day off work; our parents were invited and we rocked up to a register office! I went back to work the next day!

Friday evening, in our local. I invited my mates to buy SWMBO a drink! Their jaws dropped!!!

All our peers who got hitched around the same time are now divorced £25k was the average cost of getting hitched!

Want a holiday called a “honeymoon” - book a holiday!

Want a posh dress - buy a dress!

Want a party - put on a party!

We now are approaching mortgage freedom on our house; have two wonderful boys (through IVF); and, two Californias (one for us and one for family!)

Left be the life you want - not a choice between family and a hunk of metal! If you planned for a van conversion to enjoy life together, why spunk that your joint dream on others having a lash-up?!!

Other forum members have covered the wedding part, so I’ll leave off that subject ! To add my two pence on the matter, the market is flooded and very much in favour of buyers. Just have a look on the forums for sale section, some great vans just not shifting. Same with autotrader, same vans keep popping up unsold. You won’t get top price (or even a good price) if you do manage to shift it now. You may get a better price around spring, if demand increases. Whatever happens mate, good luck with it all
