Loud beeping when indicating with towbar bike carrier

It’s not just a case of coding, unfortunately. It’s what’s on the other end of the cable from the 13pin socket on the van. It shouldn’t even have a beeper on it. You’ve been supplied with a generic aftermarket wiring kit that isn’t specific to your vehicle.
What did you specify to the fitter, @Fred_in_the_van - generic or top-end?

My tow bar socket is a already 13pin, although the bike carrier only seem to be using 8.

The bike carrier plug only needs connections for lighting. The rest of the pins in the car socket are for powering caravan fridges/battery charging, trailer reversing lights, trailer tipping/winches etc. They should be connected via a harness that runs to the front of the van and on to connections on the battery. You don't need any of this for a bike carrier, but as I said earlier, it future proofs it.

What you have isn't wrong, but it could be better.

Thanks for the infos. I understand it a bit better. The single fat cable go straight from the 13pin socket to the front of the van. I am going to try to live with it for now and may be try to fish out the beeper to damp it. Any idea where to look for that beeper by any chance? Cheers

It will be behind one of the light clusters. Put the indicators on and have a listen.

Forgive my ignorance but what do you mean by light cluster? It seam to come from below the dsg stick
It’s normally built into the tow bar relay module which is usually behind one of the rear lights. Not sure why they’d lengthen all the wires for it to sit under the gear stick. Best thing is to speak to the installer.

Hang on, how does the cable from the socket get to the front of the van? Under the floor, cable tied to brake pipes?

All sounds a bit diy bob to me!!! ( No offence to all the bobs out there)
