I had the 2 way one ,then swapped it for the 3way same.splitter as 2way
so is the 3 plugs better than the 2 one? I only want to use the standard USB and add an additional one into the centre dash to use for app connect

I don't think all 3 do carplay ..The brown outlet is the only one that plays my ipod .I’ll probably end up installing the proper kit at some point and just put a closed grommet in the hole I made in the glovebox, I like the idea of having 3 sockets in total, do all 3 do CarPlay?
I could do without spending the £200 or so at the moment though
The only difference is 1 extra outlet .so is the 3 plugs better than the 2 one? I only want to use the standard USB and add an additional one into the centre dash to use for app connect

I would need to check mine ,I think they both did carplay but only one would play media .So can I use the centre console one as the app connect one and the original dash one for just charging?
Is there a what you need and how to wire it tutorial on the forum for fitting additional USB outlets?
Obviously a splitter box but also colour coded “din” cables and an addition multi wire cable too. What do the coloured ones do?
I fitted a new one in there rather than moving it. Remove the trim panel around the stereo with a plastic trim tool, it comes out with the vents, then 4 torx screws holding the stereo and you can pull it forward or remove it. That will give you enough room without pulling anything else offhey guys, i've found a photo of the VW engineer responsible for choosing the Apple Carplay USB location in the t6 van.
In all seriousness, what were they thinking? Do they even use those cars in the real world after making them?
I've seen few of you running the cable from the glove box to the centre cubby hole, how hard is to run this cable? do you need to pull the entire dash apart?
cheers,
dan

Just a thought; could it be that the entire dash is set up for LHD, so us Brits are made to suffer?hey guys, i've found a photo of the VW engineer responsible for choosing the Apple Carplay USB location in the t6 van.

I'm in Australia, so same issue here... I'm assuming other places around the world that drive on the "wrong" side of the road will face the same issue but on the right hand side... I think it's just bad planning from engineers...Just a thought; could it be that the entire dash is set up for LHD, so us Brits are made to suffer?
You'll still need a usb for power though, wireless carplay eats battery lifeOn a different note, I'm I'm removing the entire head unit to relocate the USB, might as well install the alpine ilx107 that has wifi apple CarPlay so no need for USB and has a way bigger screen
Really? I was under the impression when you turn off the stereo and the car wireless CarPlay turns off too... since that is integrated with that model of headunit not and aftermarket adapter. You'll still need a usb for power though, wireless carplay eats battery life
You’ve lost me there, I mean you’ll have to plug your phone in or its battery will run down very quickly, a usb converter in the 12v socket would be fine. This is why I won’t bother with wireless CarPlay, when driving I always put my phone on charge anyway to keep it topped up so if it’s got to be plugged in anyway, it may as well be transferring data.Really? As for USB for power the phone I could just use the 12v socket with an USB adapter on it
Right sorry hehehehe makes sense, I thought your were talking about car battery hahahaYou’ve lost me there, I mean you’ll have to plug your phone in or its battery will run down very quickly, a usb converter in the 12v socket would be fine. If I did end up with a stereo with wireless CarPlay I think I’d put a power socket in the door pocket and keep my phone there.Right sorry hehehehe makes sense, I thought your were talking about car battery hahaha
Yeah, that's only me trying to find an excuse to change that little screen for something a bit bigger that looks a bit better and not so dated... everyone have 8"+ screens these days, hard to believe they haven't done that on a 2019 model Multivan yet, I know the new t6.1 is going to look incredible but 2019 is what I have to play with
