Hi all , has anyone bought anything from lusso campers in Leeds I'm going to be looking at their kitchen units and rock n roll beds , the quality looks good to what I've seen online.

I see back in January, you were looking at Lusso Campers. Did you proceed, as I have had a quote for a pop top, with a 1 day fit and supply for next week. Says to me, that they are very efficient, or the opposite as in desperate for business.

I went ahead with a kitchen and rock nroll bed supply only to be honest the quality wasn't 100% ,the pattern of. The tartan upholstery didn't line up on seat and back rest and I had to take apart some off the kitchen units to realign and the back part of the units had to be scribbed in to side of the van .not sure what they would be like with a poptop , I used cheshire custom campers for my skyline poptop which was dropped off and collected next day which is need for bond to set fully.

You’ve got to be wary of someone who can fit a poptop at one weeks notice, most quality fitters are booked months ahead. Having said that, I suppose if they’re new, all quality businesses have to start somewhere.

Has anyone had a pop top fitted by Lusso yet and can give ideas on quality. They have a fast turnaround and the price seems very cheap. I’m tempted to go for them but don’t want it to be an expensive mistake, google reviews and Facebook reviews look good as does eBay feedback but it’s mostly for RNR beds

I used these 2 weeks ago for my new kitchen, biggest mistake ever!

Things I found wrong on fitting

1) The fitment of my units is a pisstake, really bad fit
2) the rear wardrobe unit looks off set, like the grain had been cut on cnc wonky
3) I had to buy a completely new fridge as mine didn't fit (luckily sold my fridge for same price as a different one)
4) The piece of wood which houses the control unit is 27mm too short
5) The piano hinge on fridge is very cheap and flimsy
The table runner is wonky

I emailed the team, no response. I then called and they told me I had fitted it wrong (too far forward) which i then shown them other pictures to show it scribed correctly to their notches.

Im now taking it further as I'm £1,495 out of pocket

Here's just one pic to show you

The bottom (which they said I fitted too far forward)

The top (same unit - which can't go any further without cutting)

I too had a bad experience with Lusso Campers and would not recommend them at all.

I did not get the same level of service that others have raved about. Through-out the conversion process I only got updates when I chased them, and issues meant delays
When I finally went to collect it there were small things that were disappointing or hadn't been done;

- Table tops just left loose, I was told they would send me some 'bags' for them but they haven't;
- I'd asked for the fridge door to open the other way round, they said it couldn't be done, I've done it;
- I'd asked for a 'proper' full scenic canvas, rather than their version of just opening at the front. They struggled with this and it looks a mess.

Once home, I couldn't get the diesel heater to work (fuelled directly from the main vehicle fuel tank) so I phoned thinking it would be an easy fix. I was told to take it back for them to fix as they knew what the issue was and had the same problem with other vans. It's 160 mile round trip for me so I had a local mechanic check it. He told me that it had been badly installed. Instead of lowering the fuel tank and putting the stand pipe in from the top they had drilled a hole for the pipe in the side of the fuel tank. This pipe wasn't in at the correct angle so wasn't even in the fuel. He explained that he could break the seal and reposition the pipe but it would result in a weak seal and wasnt good to have the pipe sticking out from the side of the tank where it could easily be knocked off by uneven ground or debris on the roads. His recommendation was to replace the fuel tank and refit the diesel heater properly.

In a number of, sometimes heated, conversations with Asad, who kept insisting that I take the van back to them and they would reposition the pipe and the seal would be fine, Lusso finally agreed to give me back the £500 I paid to have the diesel heater... and then asked me to leave them a good review!

Then I had my first weekend away in it,
here are some further issues;

- There is a gas leak behind the oven grill.
There was a strong smell of gas, all the gas appliance knobs were off and I traced the leak to behind the oven grill
- The pop top is not sitting correctly. The front is not coming down fully to make a seal with the top of the van. I checked that the canvas was in fully and the straps were as tight as I could get them; No one can get it to sit correctly.
- The quality of the woodworking is awful - the 'fitted' units haven't been scribed to the van leaving big gaps at the back of the wardrobe unit with bare wood that hasn't even been sanded, the bottom shelf in the wardrobe is unsupported along one side and there is a large gap between the shelf and the end panel; the hole for the oven has been cut too big so the oven trim doesn't cover the gap, there is trim missing from the top edge of the opening under the oven...
- The rock n roll bed is almost impossible to put back up into seat position after being in the bed position.
- The floor is a very soft lino which already has divets and scratches in it…

I have absolutely no confidence or trust in Lusso campers to put these things right and I'm not going to waste my time and money taking it back to them.

I've now discovered a local camper conversion place. They have checked it over and confirmed that;

- There is a gas leak from behind the oven grill, they will have to remove the oven to check and fix it
- The rubber round the pop top has not been done correctly. It is too tight and pinched at the back, which is preventing it sitting right at the front. They will remove and replace the rubber.
- The gas strut under the bed is not positioned correctly to give enough help when raising the bed to a seat. They will reposition it and add another one on the opposite side.
- they will do what they can to fix the carpentry issues.

Of course I informed Lusso / Asad of all these issues and he has replied asking me to take it back and they will fix all the issues. I think I'd prefer to pay to have it done properly, locally. What would you do?

It's crazy to read your experience, especially this bit as it is exactly what happened with me. Asad rang me at 11pm, I kept ignoring the call cause I was working on an emergency call out at the time. When I spoke, I told him all the issues, he said he would refund me the £250 after I removed the negative review.

He seems like a very confident business man with all the talk, but secretly his company is failing him. When I arrived to pick up my kitchen, I honestly felt like I'd entered some ghetto back street business, but at this point I'd already paid for my item.

I really wish I was a pro converter. All these faults people have with their 'proffesional installs' would never get past my QC.

Sounds infuriating and it really feels like most, if not all Yorkshire conversion company's are letting us down.

I still need to source a pop top install for 2026 and I reckon I'll be aiming anywhere but Yorkshire sadly

The problem is, as far as I understand it, you will have to give them the opportunity to fix the problem.

What you can't do is get the other company to fix it and then go back and ask for compensation or the costs to be refunded, if you've not allowed them the chance to rectify.

Personally, if I could swallow the cost, I would pay the other company, and just leave truthful reviews in the appropriate places, explaining that you didn't allow them an opportunity to rectify the issues as you had no faith that they would do so satisfactorily.

Sorry to read about all these problems - as someone who has suffered st the hands of poor workmanship on a conversion (NOT the company in this thread) but I know how it feels.

I did return my van to the converter who did mine and they did resolve a couple of issues but not all. They had also wound the company up (but were trading under a slightly different name) and I was advised I had no legal comeback. In the end I did some of the work myself and paid another company to do the work I couldn’t do (ie replace the pop top).

Hope those who have suffered manage to get their issues resolved.
