MFD: “Brakes Failed! Workshop”

Greetings, apologies if already been posted but a search revealed nothing. I have a 2016 T6 Kombi. I keep getting an intermittent message on MFD, states “Brakes Failed! And then Workshop!” This appears when starting vehicle after being parked over night mostly. It appears for a second and clears. No other warning lights illuminated or apparent. Vehicle has been checked visually and error message has been cleared many times. The vehicle has had new discs and pads. But messages were appearing before and after. Has anyone come across this before or has any insight please? TIA

Before you get any sensible replies, the first thing to do is get a full vehicle scan with VCDS or similar. Without that, it’s just guess work.

I get this occasionally, mines a 2016 kombi. I find it’s when it’s been parked a day or so and it’s been wet/damp overnight. It disappears pretty much straight away once started and the handbrake is released, I’ve put it down to the handbrake sticking on slightly due to weather, it’s fine otherwise no fault codes etc

Happens on our golf when the discs are lipped - I think it’s down to the pads releasing too slowly as they get slightly caught on the lip. Probably worse when damp as slight surface rust will exacerbate the situation.

Yeah that’s my problem, my discs are a bit ‘loopy’ too. Will get them changed next year
