Moll battery - result

Hi all - sorry to dredge this one up, but having a few battery issues myself and suspect along the same lines as many others have reported with these "Moll" batteries.

Sorry for noob question but what exactly is the "Moll" reference, is this manufacturer name/abbreviation? Mine certainly looks like the photos at the top of this thread but can't find any specific post on identifying exact battery type. - If mine is one of these, given the known history wont be wasting any time hassling them to swap it out! :)

Also reading with interest on the importance of charging/jumping from the chassis rather than the battery terminals - are there any long term impacts to doing this, or just short term confusion to the battery soc monitoring etc. Totally get the need not to bridge the factory monitor (which I assume is the appendage to the negative terminal), just roadside assistance had to jump start me the other morning and they went straight onto the battery pegs - which I didn't bat an eyelid at until doing some follow up reading on here.

If I can get VW to swap under warranty, is there a better factory option to request to avoid getting another "Moll"? :)

Many Thanks, Steve.
