My first trip out with the van this weekend.

I use some magnet hooks to keep the tunnel a little tighter to the van.

Set and wheels look tops.

Hi @dave_b what site are you on? Any good? Is there much around? We stayed at the Green Hills site in Bakewell last year. Lovely site is a great location

Got pics of your hooks?

Nothing majorly special, just some of these of Amazon.

I have a couple of elastic toggles attached to the awning I use.

And the magnets are strong enough to stick to the van over the awning if that makes sense.

You can get bigger ones with stronger strength.

I’m sure that used to be the post office with a camping field behind it. Looking on google looks like a nice site now.
Some great walks around there.
Enjoy your weekend.

Nice site. We stayed there in 2023 with the daughter's borrowed campervan, helped us to decide whether to get our own!

Ok. Here is what I Learnt this weekend…..

You definitely don’t need a massive drive away awning for a weeks trip.

Massive drive away awning DO NOT! Fold back into the bag. The end.

A mattress topper would be nice for the rib.

I need more organising trays and stuff for the cupboards in the van.

Deisel heater makes it super comfs through the night (had it on non stop all weekend).

Swamper wheels/tyres on standard suspension is awesome.

I may look for a wifi antenna to fix onto the van. WiFi was good at the site but I think an antenna would have made it better.

My leisure battery lasted all weekend with the fridge on, laptop charging, phone charging etc, so super impressed with that.

The metal panel below the petrol flap has come loose. Stayed on during the drive home but it comes off super easy. No idea how or why it happened or how easy it is to fix?!

Im going to buy a standard sun shade type awning to fit the van for the next time we camp and I’ll take a separate camping shelter tent to cook in.

Work out how to is the camping toilet before
You go on your first trip.

I think that’s about it. We had a great time and lots of laughs. Just me, the wife and the two crazy spaniels.

Brilliant! Delighted that worked out and it was a fun learning exercise.

Where did you get the dog towels/drying outfits from?

Awesome! I’m still yet to take the plunge, haven’t finished my floor, leisure battery is hooked up but no sockets yet, other small bits and pieces… but the Mrs is chewing my ear off to get out in it.
To be fair, that “awning” looks bigger than most tents! Overkill for 2 on a weekend away… IMO anyway. But I’ll probably end up with one seems I have 3 small boys.

Love the peaks, we stayed at Barn Farm last year, can’t wait to go back in the transporter.

It's amazing how quickly you learn the easiest sequence to assemble and take down the big awning.
