My Shuttle Conversion

I never used original b&c pillar trim, as for roof, I cut the originanal trim where it meets the cab, carpeted it and screwed it onto new ply boards
Thanks, that makes sense
Any chance of some pictures of the finished job at some point, please?

Quick question on this gents. I'm taking the roof out of my shuttle for a pop top. And found a blue plug in the loom that appears to go from the main HVAC unit to a flap actuator I'm the roof. I'm planning on keeping the rear HVAC and venting it through the units so do I need this actuator in the set up still or can I just disconnect it and wrap it into the loom like I'd do with the spare light connectors.

Can't remember tbh, I do know plugs that are not plugged in will give out fault codes, even the rear speakers.
No worries, might just take the actuator flap out of the roof and plug in in behind the furniture units closer to the HVAC and before the new ducting.

How are you planning on boxing the HVAC in? Using original trim?

cheers for the pics. Is it not worth keeping the original floor foam/insulation? Did you keep the ceiling lights? If not, what did you do with the wiring? Cheers.
Never kept anything, they come up as faults

Good question and to be honest I'm still not fully decided, it all depends on how a rib 3 seater fits in the back. I'm testing one out this week but I'm starting to think all the trim will be coming out (apart from the door cards) in favour of space and complete low level units down the side (e.g no rear high cabinet). In which case it will vent like @St4n99 has done in the pics below but mine won't have trim behind the units. Basically looks like the foam duct on the HVAC has been cable tied to a standard ducting pipe and vent.

I like the low level units, to keep the rear window in play. @St4n99 where did you find units that fit around the plastic trim like that? I'm tempted to go that route.

@Rhysdon, @St4n99 had his bespokely made by a conversion company. After a lot of research if your keeping the shuttle trim in play you have to really. And to be fair even if your not keeping the trim then you probably need something bespoke/tweeked to hide/accommodate the HVAC. If it helps I've made the decision today that all my panels are coming out apart from the sliding door and tailgate cards. Then it's a rib 3 seater (129cm) in the back with a single removable middle row behind the passenger seat. The question is do I then go full length bespoke furniture down one side or build a removeable pod. I'm going to be towing a caravan so probably don't need loads of storage space in the Van but it all boils down to your individual requirements and how your decisions affect a resail.... decisions decisions

Nice one, thanks. Yeah I'm thinking to remove the trim too, then re-route HVAC through furniture. Also planning to put in a SWB furniture kit, leaving 40cm at the back to store two bikes sideways (van is LWB). Will be a bit of a niche van when it comes to resale but should hopefully appeal to somebody out there! Good luck with yours.

Sounds similar to what I plan to do. I have ordered a Smartbed Evo rail so the kids can sit closer to us when driving (it's LWB so bikes would then fit in lengthwise) but they did complain of being cold in one we rented, so I want to keep the aux heater and run some ducting somewhere. Furniture will be bespoked to fit, although I will still have a tall unit that hides the rear offside window. Seems obvious to keep the tailgate trim but sliding door will depend on how it looks once the rest is carpeted. Converter chap reckons it might look odd.

I'm sure someone on here has kept the sliding doors and tailgate trim whilst carpeting the rest and said it looked good. Can't remember who mind..worse case scenario you try it, if it doesn't look good pop them off and sell them on eBay. Then you can just carpet a ply panel but you'll have to replace the handle with a Kombi/PV one.

Hey guys
sounds similar to what I’m doing too. I also keeping the HVAC unit. I’m doing my own conversion; I’m going to keep the panels on both sliders and the tailgate. I’m going to carpet cover the panels so that it is in keeping with the rest of the van.

That could look quite good, I reckon.
