Hi I have done the NC500 in my car over a week one of the reasons I got a camper was real good trip looking forward to doing it again in camper, will probably go the other way round applecross should be fun in my T6 so many places to explore and reexplore even before going out of uk.
Thinking of a 2 week trip week at a site and a week parking wild.

Both great places but for me would be highlands all day long the views were amazing.

Its great isn't it?

Just back from Northern half of WAW - trying to get a consensus from TOH as to which was the best!
:waving:

The Road trip on NC500 is epic as in your shots.
The pubs in Ireland are epic.
Scenery on both is epic.
Weather can make or break - but that's out of our control.!
Both are excellent - and if anyone is thinking of doing it ?..... Just Do It!!

Great food
Haggis started was delicious, best one throughout my whole NC500 trip. Steak & ale pie was lovely & the mashed potatoes were a heart attack on a plate with the amount of butter & cream in it but it was heavenly & not a single lump.
The only negative thing to say is that it closed very early - 5:30pm but maybe this was a good thing as I was still stuffed at 9!

We regularly go up that area 2 or 3 times a year and have done for last 20 years. The amount of traffic now is 20 times what it was. Good for local economy up there but it does meen campsites if you are using them do get full at peak times. Once they would always be empty.
If wild camping the amount of litter around now is now ridiculous, lay-bys with dumped rubbish and bbqs just left. Who do people think are going to clear this, wish people would take rubbish home.
The good thing is people rarely venture more than a few mile off route so you can still get the solitude and remoteness up there. Have a walk up one of the big hills and again more than likely you will see no one.
It is a fantastic area.
On our last visit number of motor homes with smashed and dangling mirrors we saw was into double figures so yes be ready to pull right over, some drivers don't have a clue on the narrow roads.

YEP sum people

Yes I have mixed feelings about the NC500, on one hand it has ruined aspects of the area for people who used to go there before the "boom", on the other hand I lived in the highlands for a few years and I know how much the economy has come to rely on tourism.

Can't help feeling that there will be a clampdown on wild parking though, as mentioned so many tourists seem to think throwing their rubbish and sh!t (literally) around is acceptable.
