Northampton, shy toll...

I’m also a Northampton resident and the traffic system is a absolute joke currently!!
let us know how the appeal goes.

That's outrageous, and as others have said, you should appeal. You can see that the car stops suddenly in front of you, and you were merely taking avoiding action. In my view they've been negligent in not putting restrictions on turning right into the petrol station at this point - it's an accident waiting to happen. Check if they followed the correct consultation procedure before implementing the scheme - Bristol's marvellous Mayor tried to do this sort of lunacy on the A4018 coming from the city centre all the way up to the M5 J17. However, they did a proper consultation and stirred up a real hornet's nest! It was blindingly obvious that the idiots who had dreamt up the proposals had absolutely no idea of how traffic circulates around north west Bristol and it would have created rat runs and accidents. They even wanted to ban turning left at several successive major junctions, meaning residents had up to a mile and half detour for the sake of less than 100 yards! Madness! Don't take it lying down!:mad::thumbsup:

There's one here in Acton I was done on last year. Bus lane extension close to a left turn, people dive off 25yds early into the left turn as traffic is always queued on Acton Vale, clip the end of the bus lane and a fine appears in the post. Enforcement camera is on the pole outside the Shell garage. Of course deliberate placement and entrapment, just like the OP;

Thanks for that @sparkzer , I thought I was maybe being a bit thin skinned but the council here really are morally as well as financially bankrupt.
One sodding camera at an obvious pinch point on a 24/7 bus lane where buses only run from 6am until 11pm anyway... they'll probably start their own clamping service next. Northampton is a genuinely crap town striving to be a crap city.

I feel your pain, I the same was caught in Ealing last month. I was overjoyed to find out the councils in London can charge more than anywhere else in the country. £130 fine but they were so kind to give me a 50% discount if I paid within 14 days.

Similar situation, Deliveroo driver slammed on his brakes to pick up from one of the many takeaways, I thought it was safer to swerve into the bus lane than it was to emergency brake and have the car behind me slam into me. Ealing Council does not agree, apparently I spent too long in the bus lane showing my displeasure to the delivery driver. :whistle:
