OEM LED headlights question: wattage & lumens..

Thanks for all the replies I was hoping they weren’t necessary.
So the only possible fly in the ointment is the 2000 lumens issue. How would an MOT tester know how many lumens they are ,there doesn’t seem to be any markings on them?
I have a copy of the homologation certificate for the T6 led headlights - they are below 2000 lumens and its therefore ok for me to fit them here in switzerland without headlight washers.

i'll see if i can get the pdf on here.. i'll need to find it.
If you can find the pdf especially in English that would be grand!

There is no fly in the ointment as long as the uk is ok with the 2000lumen rule and no washers - as stated above..

Here, its in a few languages as its the official document..

For everyone’s info I had also emailed the DVSA for an answer. I didn’t think I would get a reply but I did which is copied below....,

Hi Pete

Thank you for your enquiry of 18 January regarding LED headlamps.

The answer in respect of legality is not straightforward. LED headlamps must have a self-levelling system, but are only required to have headlamp wash if they are over 2000 Lumens.

My own vehicle, for example, has LED headlamps, but no headlamp wash. I have no idea how many Lumens the headlamps are, but assume that as it was type approved they are below the limit.

In respect of MOT testing, we cannot expect an MOT tester to know whether or not headlamp wash is required. Therefore, if fitted, the wash system must work. If not fitted, we assume it is not required and it passes the test.

You can view the MOT Manual wording in Section 4.1.6 online.

The section does not say, ‘may’ or must’ but simply points out that the check only applies to vehicles first used on or after 1 September 2009 equipped with headlamp washers.

Best regards
