Paint Blisters

The door hasnt dropped but the passenger side slider has now decided not to open.

Just to revive this thread to those watching it.
Today is collection day, where I fetch my van from the main dealers after letting them carry out the warranty work, as per their terms and conditions (all warranty paintwork has to be done through an approved VW bodyshop)
There has been some anticipation with the quality of the repairs, and it's been mentioned several times that main dealer paintwork will be below standard, but my choices were to drop the case, and end up with a rusty T6, have the repair work done at my own bodyshop with a rather large bill, or let the dealers do the job and hope it's done to a high standard. My dealership bodyshop manager was realistic, and he did put my mind at ease slightly, but all will be discovered later on today.
Hopefully this will be an end to this whole pathetic debacle, and show Volkswagen's paint warranty department for the sham it actually is. This process has taken just over a year from start to finish, and several hundred pound out of my own pocket, that i've still not been reimbursed as I was promised. In my opinion this falls far below what I feel is a reasonable standard of customer care, but not a huge surprise.

I agree that warranty and after sales are shocking and totally dependent on having a dealer who puts service above profit.

Unfortunately this will not change until we stop buying Transporters. Like that will ever happen....

Fingers crossed for you @Tourershine, really hope it meets your expectations. Over the last 18 months I have followed with great interest your T6 journey in pursuit of the (changing!!!) look that you want (which I think currently is amazing!), and I have learned a lot from your knowledge and experiences along the way - that is the beauty of such a good forum and passionate membership. I really don’t get why VW still don’t seem to understand that these are not just vans to us, they are something that the majority of people put their hearts and souls into (not to mention a large and ongoing amount of money too!).

Thanks for the words above @Noddy996

Well, collected the van earlier and i'm pleasantly surprised to say the Parkway VW Leicester have done a sterling job of my van, and I had no reason what so ever to worry. The bodyshop manager Calvin listened to everything I requested, and followed this to the letter.
I dropped off the van and left 2 strict instructions, first one being obviously don't wash it afterwards, which they didn't :)
Second instruction was a first for them and a rather odd one. I requested that how ever the paint came out the gun, was how I wanted the van leaving. This meant any crap in the paint, any orange peel finish, and all the normal finishes people often don't see when having paintwork done, because it's all removed in a fashion, were all apparent. The reason for this oddness is simply because the majority of the van has already been flatted and polished by me, and getting them to try and replicate this finish would take more time than they'd be allowed, so i'd just rather do this finishing work myself. My main concern was getting the colour match right, and that is 100% spot on. I've just done a little fettling this afternoon, but not a full job, because I want to give the paint time to cure before wet-flatting and polishing. I noticed that who ever did my paintwork, also spent the time to go around the van and touch up any chips, which was way above my expectations, and a nice bonus. Plus they replaced both of the rear arch protection clear vinyls.

Overall i'm extremely satisfied with Parkway Leicesters work, and cannot thank Calvin enough for the help and advice he's given me throughout this whole process.
I'm more than happy for anyone that's going through this now, to help out where I can. It's a long drawn out road, but worth the effort.

Although the quality of the finish isn't obvious on these pictures from today, it is more than obvious that for a vehicle that's just had both sliding doors painted, and both rear quarters, the match is impossible to fault.

Apologies to drag up this post again, but final part to my jigsaw.

When you pay for the PVWI inspection at £180, this is promised to be reimbursed. VW have finally got round to sending me a cheque for the said amount, and this is my case closed :)

Now the decision, do a bank the cheque, or do I frame it

Bank it using a the bank app then frame it

Same issue here. I have a 3/2016 T6 hightop. It has blisters and chips over the cockpit which apparently caused by bird droppings. Had it checked twice and both came to the same conclusion. I disagree with them because I believe that there is a reaction between the fibreglass hightopand the paint which is blistering- also got "stone chips" on the roof. VW basically not interested. Also got corrosion on the hinges of the rear door- again- not interesteed.

I get that VW wouldn't be interested in stone chips. No manufacture would be. The rust on the hinges might be caused by the paint being worn away from constant opening and closing, and again, I doubt any manufacture would see this as a warranty issue.

As for the other issues, do you have any pictures? I specialise in Fibreglass issues, and there isn't much we haven't seen go wrong, or explained why, but i'm more interested in seeing what VW have built from the factory that's actually fibreglass. I've never seen this close up myself, only aftermarket roofs.

I went in to a dealers last week. He asked me to get some detailed pictures of the paint issue and he will send them off, I plan to do this over the weekend, saying VW might do it as a goodwill gesture. I was tempted to point out the length of the paint warranty.

Wow what a drama. Just read the thread end to end. I have nothing to add to the OEM details, as no issues with my paint (so far). What a slog to get the warranty to cover this. Well done on sticking with it. It's inspirational for the rest of us to keep pressing in a similar situation.

I have however had experience with a VW approved body shop, Poole Accident Repair, who are also the local Porsche repairer. They repaired my Cayenne after a non- fault accident. It was a faultless, invisible repair, with a perfect colour match and blend up the big slab sides of the car. I worked for Berger in the 80's on their 2K product, so as Daddy Pig would say, "I am a bit of an expert". The match and finish was faultless, and I would have no concerns using a VW approved repairer again. See @Dellmassive's thread on his big repair, and also reports of a great finish from his chosen VW approved repairer.
