Plinth Heater

Hi everyone,

I am part way through a self build and have got as far as beds, fridge, insulation and plywood cladding and I have recently fitted one of these EHU cables permanently under the drivers seat, and added a ground wire to make sure its all safe (my Dad is an electrical engineer which helps!).

I am now looking at cheap options for heating, I have tried a little plug in and it wasnt great and there isnt really any room for an oil filled radiator with 3 of us, so I have been looking at Plinth heaters.

Has anyone fitted one of these? Do they fit under one of the front seats and are they any good for heating a van overnight?

Thanks in advance for your help and advice :)

Cheers, Steve

You could do a lot worse than a £20 1-2kw fan heater currently in the Aisle of dreams at Aldi. We have one for when we're on EHU & it's spot on. We have a small 700W oil filled radiator (screwfix) for during the night. Any time off EHU & it's the Webasto. If I had to choose only one heater, the Webasto would be it.

This kind of thing

Some converters used to fit the Witney plinth heater. The only problem I can think of is fan heaters are dust magnets but you could put some filter foam at the front of the seat base to pull the worst out.
