Poptop and high winds?!

Forgot about the internal straps
You’ll be ok
Worst should be the lid pushed down a little

We were in Isle of Wight last summer, we had two nights at 40mph and one night at 85mph
We had roof down that night (85mph) luckily but we had a Kampa Tourer awning up
Two o’clock that morning the wind hit, the awning was sound but the rock pegs couldn’t take it and just kept pulling out
Try and put several pegs in and cross them to work against the wind

Ah it’s not that bad, next ball ache is pooling on my galli tent, bloody nightmare to be fair

Better safe than sorry. We have a reimo one and we have never put it down in a storm. It's always been fine. Was hard to sleep through it worrying it was guna blow away but it stood the test well. I seem to remember it was over 60mph winds on both occasions. But I bet it would depend on direction of wind

As mentioned above, your greatest danger is other peoples stuff. I used to hate windy race meetings, you could guarantee there'd be at least one fight about damage to cars & bikes from wayward Gazeebos, tables, banners and LED poles :D

Domt blame you. I would have probably done the same but it caught us by surprise. Last year in Switzerland up in some lakes we got caught out. We could hear something coming but wasnt sure what it was. It was rain and wind which literally took us by surprise. We had to batten down the sun canopy and the kids were catching everyone's stuff that was flying off all over the place. First pic was about hour before storm came over. Second pic was after it had gone through. Only lasted about half hour but was bloody nuts.

We're over near dartmouth, bbc weather is saying gusts of nearly 60mph until tomorrow afternoon. I've done the same and just bought my roof down, looks like sleeping on the front seats if I can move the dog or in the awning (if it survives ). Not too windy at the minute just heavy rain.

Vango Galli awning survived 60+mph gusts a couple of days ago at 3 Cliffs in Wales. Roof down, no sleep for me in the awning though, regular checks outside and a violent battering meant a pretty torrid night. Mrs KB and the eldest had an undisturbed night in the van. At leat 6 tents destroyed around us overnight, and most had either not turned up or run away earlier. Dropped the pop top in similar conditions on the NC500 last year, no awning. Left it a bit late tbh but the 4 of us had a gretat nights sleep downstairs in a Cali Ocean, 3 top to tail in the bed and the youngest across the front seats with some towels filling the gap over the handbrake.

You have to drink a lot of beer to sleep through a shaking pop top. Many a time I’ve leapt out of bed to ‘save’ the roof only to find it sounds much worse than it really is.

Have faith, these things can handle a fair amount of abuse. I'm currently in the roof with a snoring 5 yr old, and the rest of the family below. All be it in my t3 camper and not a million miles away.
It handled much stronger winds last year without any issues.

Maybe another beer will help with the sleep
