Regarding attaching things to the van like awnings (tent or flysheets) and external windscreen covers - has anyone PPF’d the potential rub areas?

Or is it a case of wiping down with a damp microfibre cloth to remove any dust/dirt that could scratch?

In particular I was thinking A pillars and the roof edge adjacent to the channel where the C rail is fitted.

I haven't, but wish I had - came back to the van on Saturday to find the sun canopy flapping around in the wind (the 6" pegs had been ripped out of the ground) and the roof edge has been marred along the whole length of the c-rail. It's nothing that won't polish out, but even so.
