Hi everyone - a few months ago I got my first transporter, which I’ve loved. It’s a 6.1 Kombi that I haven’t done anything super excited to and don’t plan to really; I just use it for work and taking my toddler and wife around.
I’ve only recently learned about paint protection film, as I’m new to the world of detailing really as I’ve not had a vehicle ever worth close to this.
I do get concerned about all the hedges you end up having to clip and the potential stone chips. However after buying it at 4k miles and it already up to 9k miles (how the hell did that happen?!) I’m not sure if it’s more of a thing you get done straight out if the factory. I have a few stone chips already frustratingly.
The cheapest quote I’ve had back is £1600 for the front (nose and bonnet) plus side mirrors. It’s also another approx £250 on top for prep and paint correction but that all depends what they think when they see it.
All subjective so no right or wrong answers but would folks consider that worth it? The van cost me £45k and it’s entirely possible the t6.1’s hold their value super well but it’s still a hell of a lot of money. I’m aware the van was an investment but I’m also now in the situation of having to spend lots of money because I spent lots of money
Curious what folks think and also would love to know any folks experiences with PPF - it still seems like a bit of a Wild West out there.
Thanks
