Price of diesel in your area?

Ahhh, brings back fond memories of my old Grandad, he had hundreds and hundreds of books full of Green Shield Stamps.
 
I remember as a kid my Dad saying that if 4 star ever gets to £1 a gallon everyone will stop driving and go on the bus.
I also later predicted that if fags ever got to 50p for 20, everyone would stop smoking.
Neither of us had a career in fortune telling

I had to have look. The books are being sold on eBay. All with the 50+ year old spit on the back of the stamps!

My grandparents used to save them up for when I went to stay (summer hols) so I could be kept out of trouble sticking them in the book. One year they’d saved so many that my tongue started bleeding and I was delirious from the toxicity of the glue. The GP came out (gives a clue as to how long ago it was) and told me off

Almost bid on that then but then had a reality check as I’ve no idea what I’d do with it. Brings back great memories though, esp as an 8yr old ardent LUFC fan living in Leeds. I have a vague memory of a red, cheaper and thinner album too that had individual England players. Can still remember the excitement every time my dad went to get petrol. Something I recreated in the early 90s when I had a job that involved 35-40k miles per year and was able to collect the little model cars that my daughter loved collecting and playing with.

I bought my first 10 speed push bike with green sheild stamps........ used to work in garage and people used to just give them to me. Sorted.

“Low tech”?!! Hardly! You knew what you could get when you had collected a given number of stamps! With the new-fangled “loyalty” points, you at at the whim of what’s on offer at the time of redeeming them!
