Problems with Teahupoo?

Good evening to all, I had a VW T6 van converted by Teahupoo 2019/2020 and have had lots of issues with it , has anyone else had an issue with a Teahupoo van or am I just unlucky ?

Teahupoo VW Campers Ltd have ceased trading and the company was dissolved on 14/5/24 according to Gov.uk….
How does that work? Can you dissolve a company in advance?

You are not alone. We encountered problems with our van from the moment we collected it from Teahupoo - approx 3 years ago. We have needed a full re-wire, a new water tank, new heater, and we are currently experiencing problems with our pop-top roof. Generally is there a safety kitemark or recognised quality standard that converters should adhere to?

Hi all, we have rectified several of their attempts at converting vehicles. We also reported them to trading standards 3 years ago due to the unsafe nature of their builds. I know there are good and bad but on the whole by the nature of the way they were installing or trying the vehicles just were so unsafe, it’s only now that the company has been closed that we can openly discuss the issues without legal action being taken against us.
we did try to stop what they were doing, believe me we put alot of effort into stopping people being ripped off. On a side note I don’t know how they did it but there wasn’t a single bad review on their google reviews ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you paid any of it by credit card, thinknover £100 (say deposit) then you are protected for the full amount regardless if the company has gone bust. Worth looking into.

Not, unfortunately, if you paid the amount likely paid for a campervan as Section 75 has an upper limit of £30,000

We have some great relationships with some of their previous customers some of which were given money back but were made to sign Non Disclosure Agreements

There is freedom of expression in the UK, speak your mind.

Unfortunately for us as a business, presenting the nature of what they were doing to a wider audience could have been seen as slander, and led to legal action against us,this is why we took the time and effort to report it to trading standards on several occasions, I’m just glad that no one else will suffer at the hands of these people.

Still think if repairs are below the limit then worth trying the credit card for making good.

Essentially, no.

Only voluntary schemes like the NCC scheme.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, but welcome to the forum.

Another dissatisfied customer here I’m afraid

Had multiple problems from day one, took the van back to them with a long list of issues, which they mostly resolved.

However I’d rate the workmanship overall as poor diy standard. I’m actually not surprised if they’ve ceased trading - but am surprised there weren’t more negative comments or reviews around on the internet when they were still converting vehicles. I thought we were just unlucky, apparently not.

What issues have you had so far?

If you are Lancashire based and are having issues please get in touch, we have successfully managed to give quite a few of their customers faith back in their vans
Could you give examples of what you found to be unsafe and reported to Trading Standards, also some information about your company?
