Nice work! I'm warming to that new front end, well it certainly doesn't look as jarring with the wee touches you've applied. The dash doesn't look to be an improvement over the comfort dash in my van though and I see vw still haven't seen fit to give us a rhd dsg lever.... Cheapskates

Really nice build, every bit as good as, if not better than the vans that come out of LV.

That front just needs something a little more aggressive to finish it off, I'm not keen on the new ABT front, although I didn't really like the old one either.

And it needs stripes, always stripes!!

And this is his 2nd big build, although he runs a few of our vans

Yeah, it doesn't look like a first pass.

As a first time owner, it took me well over a year to 'learn' what was available and best in the market by way of upgrades / modifications to suit my personal use of the vehicle. I'll be able to spec the next one over lunch however

They are fully custom made - The pads are the same in the T6 and T6.1, so yes is the answer

Hi. How does the eiback setup compare to blistines?
Is the grill painted or wrapped????

Sorry just seen this.

The grille is fully stripped and custom painted.

Suspension wise, I think its smoother than the B14s, but doesn't actually go as low. But then one of my techs prefers the ride of the B14s to the Eibachs. Horses for courses really, as we've always said what one person find comfortable the next doesn't. Suspension on these vans is about trying as many as possible and making your mid up from there.

Amazing isn't it. We spend months researching, then once we learn it becomes 2nd nature. I agree, I could spec a new one in half an hour now, and 28 minutes of that would be spent on the tech extras. My own overall look for me is easy now and I hope I get into a position in the next year or so, where I can order another one.

No problem. Thanks for reply.

I’m exactly the same. when I ordered my van I thought I had it spot on, but it’s taken me another 6 months and a fair bit of cash to get it right and that’s just the outside. I haven’t even started on the inside. The next one, whenever in the future that may be, will be much closer to perfect the first time!

The thing is ... I'm still at it as well  .... Although, the final two jobs have been in mind for some time but just not got around to them. Major sound system upgrade and a very specific suspension upgrade. There seems a never ending list of tweeks and upgrades. From seemingly minor aesthetic things like nice quality black wheel bolts, to major items like, lining, sound deadening, leather upholstery, brake upgrades and engine remapping etc etc.

In the end, you create something highly customized to suit the reason you bought it. In my case, I've basically turned it into a very large sports saloon to transport mountain bikes and kit at high speed and relative comfort to wherever I'm going.

I don't know whether others are the same. Having done all that and created something you're very pleased with, starting from scratch and doing it all over again isn't high on my priority list

I'm sure when the T6.1 factory options list becomes more comprehensive (as VW tend to do over time) and the after market mods market for the 6.1 is as mature as it is for the T6, I might change my mind :D

I've been building and selling transporters for well over 12 years now, so pretty much have the options list nailed (I just tick all boxes on mine(, and we always seems to get the correct dealer and factory fit options, for the customers needs. We get many dealer ordered vans in for customer fit-outs with obvious options missing.

Anyone wanting a new van, please getting touch, we can offer decent discounts, not always the best, but we can option your vehicle correctly for you.

Sounds very familiar.
Absolutely love my T6 and will definitely have another Transporter!

100 % agree  .... having come out of a Vito I had for the same purpose, there is literally no comparison whatsoever. The type of leisure vehicle you can create in the UK from a Transporter is second to none. There are just so many after-market mods / tuning options (on top of a decent factory options list) that you can build quite a serious bit of kit from a kombi van .... for motorway mile munching, then climbing twisty mountain roads quickly when you get there

Yep, totally agree Oli.

It sounds mad but I destroyed the budget I had set for my Transporter because a new one was in stock (no waiting) in the colour I wanted and was a LWB Highline Kombi, which was the plan ... BUT .. the stock item was a 204ps, had DSG, 4Motion, LED's, Comfort Dash and electric everything etc .. so was pricey.

With the benefit of what I've learned on this Forum and from being in Transporter world for 2 years now .... how often can you say you are pleased you spent more on a vehicle than planned

Not only am I now pleased I have all these additions, as they are massively improving my experience driving and using it as intended but also, it turns out that many of these options contribute extremely significantly to my residual being particularly high on this spec. So, I may end up not having spent as much as I thought when I come to sell.

So with the benefit of hindsight, Oli is totally right, it sounds extravagant but as he says, "just tick all the boxes":laugh:
