Really baffled not hard

2018 kombi high line
My father owned it from new and supplied by Swiss vans. never had any damage or anyone touch lights apart from new h4 bulbs.

When I put the reg in for headlight bulbs it comes up as h7 fitment.

When stood at front of van looking at passenger. Bulb far left is drl that is on with side lights
Then headlight on and drl goes off
Then main is same bulb.

Then there is the wiring with blue connectors:
All it’s had fitted is towbar , and aftermarket head unit with reverse camera

Anyone know what lights should be fitted and what’s this connectors could be pls .

Lights look H4 and you've used H4 bulbs so theyre H4 despite what any doc says.
As for the connectors doubt its towbar or HU. Try tracing the wire back. Where does it go? Or a pic if possible.

H7 headlamps came along with the T6.1.

H7 headlamps came along with the T6.1.

They did come out with the T6 - mainly on Caravelle’s and Cali’s it seems.

So I’ve put 200% night breakers in and still tosh. What other options are there.
I know there are lots of threads but with my health I will pull my hair out

You could fit OEM H7 headlamps, aftermarket H7’s, aftermarket LED’s or OEM LED’s.

H4 and H7 are both halogen - for most cars it doesn't really make a difference as both are the same power - just specifically on the VW Transporter the reflector design in the headlight that takes H4 lamps is generally regarded as pretty bad and makes for a much less usable light, whereas the reflector in the one that takes H7 is much better.

I don't believe there was any official or even aftermarket Xenon or other gas discharge option so the next step is LED.
