Hi all,
Looking to get my onboard leisure battery charging sorted.
Van is a 2020 T6.1 and the leisure battery (Fogstar 105ah) will run LED ceiling lights (6 no), halo COB LED, USB sockets (2 no) and a cigarette lighter 12v socket.
Also looking to run a 1000W inverter to supply e-bike chargers.

So the big question is, Victron or Renogy????? Im happy that the 30A of each make will suffice my needs, and the Renogy will give me a solar option should the need arise. Price wise they seem comparable when you add the BT module to the Renogy.

TIA, Dave

When you add a solar panel to the renogy, it reduces the charging from the engine to 15A (and 15a for Solar). For the total output you're thinking of, I don't think it will be an issue.
I'm happy with my renogy DC-DC charger, but when I added a solar panel I added a MPPT device which aren't expensive.

You're probably better running the newer Orion XS derated in software to 30A as it's much smaller and cooler running. The space saved probably lets you use a dedicated Victron MPPT when you add solar.

Does put your budget up a bit though. Neither charger is a bad choice, but the design is starting to get a little older and less efficient compared to more recent models.

To be fair, space is not an issue as this isn't going to be a conventional camper conversion.
Purely for carting bikes around and a place to get changed, have a brew post ride with a full width bench seat against the bulkhead in the rear doubling up as a bike rack for transport, a bit like THIS. ;)
