Replacement waeco fridge

That's what I'm so confused about. Its definitely got ventilation at the moment as its pulled out. That does make sense with regards to things in it actually. I've put some beers out of fridge into it. I sort of hope it stays cold but I'm sure it's not going to. Your up early. Is it saturday in Aus now?
If you put items in the fridge which are cooler than the air in the fridge it will reduce the compressor run time. The more dense the items the better.
Putting items in which are warmer does the reverse.
Tip for an empty upright freezer is to put empty but sealed cardboard boxes inside, when you open the door you don‘t fill the freezer with warm air.
Battery monitors also consume power, just something to consider if the solar power budget is already low.

10.6volts this morning. It has to be battery I think. I'm guna change it for my other one. And put mine on charge for a couple of days. It's just four seperate people have told me battery is fine.

Remember also you cant read the voltage at battery with the solar panel connected in the sun or you are reading the panel output to battery, cover panel with something and read it half hour later to get a better idea of battery voltage

As a follow up to the figures from last night, I've just looked at mine at 09:45...

After 13 hours switched on at third setting down the voltage is 11.5V and current draw about 2.7A

I say about as the solar is now partly charging (some cloud) and was putting 0.9A in and the reading for discharge was 1.8A so I added the 0.9 to the 1.8 for an approximate figure. Solar charging & B to B is a RING RSCDC30.

The OP says that he has the fridge setting to maximum cool, in mine that would freeze most of the contents almost solid in a day! So we only use the middle setting even in hot weather. I don't even think we had to resort to a higher (lower temp) setting when we were in Holland at this time last year with daytime ambient of 43 degrees! Yes it was even hotter than here in the UK.

I normally have mine on the coolest setting here in Australia but sometimes it gets too cold. The warmer the day the lower the fridge temperature gets. I have read by forums here our fridges are specified Tropical and we have a T after our serial number. On days of low temperatures like 0c at daybreak my fridge was warmer than in my van. Fridge 4c van 0c. A bit weird dont you think. Sometimes I have to run it on second coolest setting which is much better on my battery

I measured the voltage before sun was up and I removed solar fuse last night. The compressor definitely was kicking in and out as I turned fridge down to setting 2 where we normally run it. It used to run for about 2-3 days before we had a solar panel without moving the van. Now it doesnt even last the night.

Time to try other battery but it must be fully charged and a good one to prove its your leisure battery not holding charge

When I say setting 2 I mean 2nd warmest. That's normally enough to keep ice pops in the freezer compartment and rest of fridge lovely. Sometimes on a baking hot day I might turn it up to setting 3 which is a bit colder but in uk we dont get an amazing amount of sun

The spare one I have had been sat in garage for about 8weeks and still had 12.6volts. I have had it on charge and I'm guna swap in a bit.

Do you have an electric hookup 240v to your van, this would prove if it's the fridge but from what we have seen it appears to be battery. But hopefully second battery is ok

I do have hookup yea. I could try that. I would think it will just run fine then. Do you think that would prove that its battery. I dont understand how people say battery is fine and it might not be. Are battery testers reliable I wonder?

I think so as you have replaced and upgraded cable size to fridge and generally if fridge works on 240v then fridge is probably ok and it works ok for a time on battery but then battery is too low premiturilary so it points to battery. I think my reasoning is right but its getting late here now and I'm having a few beers.
