Retrofit rear PDC

Here is the fault code scan after pdc is disconnected and taken away. Going to double check can cables now and see if there is anything that doesn’t appear correct
Probably would be a good idea to clear the faults - usually each module individually - now the "old" faults a kind of block the view. Anyways, the fault frequency counters remained the same as in previous scan - so looks good.

Are you sure you added the PDC into installation list - it should appear there even not being present (in the beginning of the scan).

haha beat me to it :)

Here I have a scan with a lid faults deleted along with taking another look at my splices/order and it appears the oil light has no gone out along with a lot of the other faults?

Did your VCDS find the modules? I have installed mine via the can gateway module, however when I click on the new module it won’t connect

Just tried the 5f multi media method, turned on the ops display along with park pilot but still nothing

That looks much healthier.

Not sure about the oil sensor issue, could one of the other pins have popped loose when adding PDC pins to the BCM connector?

And you sure you spliced into the can bus wires, ie twisted pair? Sorry, just trying to rule out any possibilities

Anyway, now comms seem to be ok so next pop the PDC back in and double check the gateway list as @mmi said. Then rescan - if you get more faults it’s likely a borked module. If not, you should be good to try coding it.

I only have only obd11 as of now. But yes, the module was found and could connect to it after adding via gw module installation list

Another thing to keep eye on - on the last line of the scan. A bit curious why the VIgn=0 at the socket? Although the proper voltage obviously was present on the modules themselves.

Good eyes!

Do you know where that’s sampled from? Diag port?

That's what the VCDS dongle sees at OBD port. Perhaps the dongle was just loose - I have noticed the VCDS communicates just fine without ignition on. Certainly not all the modules don't do that but BCM, Gateway and Battery Management can be interrogated and coded even with ignition off (just need to keep driver's door open to keep BCM comms alive) :geek:

If theres any suspect of low battery then get it charged, properly
I have been the victim of wasting time looking at weird things going on only to realise it was low volts, flat batteries can cause all sorts of weird randomness

I would get that battery charged then disconnect it and do a full reset on the van

You need to be able to see and communicate with PDC module 10 first and set it’s long coding. Fwiw my long coding for that is 310108, however your’s will most likely differ as it contains things like trailer hitch, camera and electric tailgate

There certainly is suspect of low battery, it died on me earlier I had to charge it a bit to get it started, I’ve driven it a bit for the alternator to charge it up further. I will give it a good charge tomorrow and recheck! Thanks a lot from yourself and all previous posters! Absolute massive help!

Okay, I need to give the van a good reset due to what I believe low battery causing these issues pointed out by pauly on my retrofit thread. I will try again when I have done this and update this thread

Me again, back with an update,
Piggy packing from the sc30 fuse and not adding an additional fuse caused all the faults I had, my mistake here (inexperience)

Now I have the buzzers working and picking up as they should, however for the life of me I can’t seem to get the ops display to show (park pilot) I have ticked every box in correspondence to ops along with gone though the long code helper in module 10.

Is it simply that my head unit isn’t up to it and I need a better spec head unit? I have attached a photo of my head unit to clear this up maybe?

Have you adjusted coding in the headunit to display it (module 5F) ?

Yes I’ve activated the ops display along with the park pilot in this module, these are the only two I could see in the long list of adaptions

I think theres a couple quirky settings in the adaptions that need activating, if i remember correctly they have non obvious descriptions so you may need to search around for instructions/specifics

Okay, thanks for that. Il have a search now, along with hoping someone can chime in with further instructions

I think headunit might need also complete restart after some changes to take effect. Long press power until it reboots.
