Why not just do in a frying pan? Butter on the outside, fillings / cheese in the middle and fry both sides till golden. Hmmm!

I get what your saying but I’ve seen a lot of posts about how good these are at cooking all sorts of stuff. And less chance of splatters if we end up cooking in the van as it’s covered. I’ll only know if I get one and try it but people who have them seem pleased.
The link was to rhe sandwich toaster version. I’ve seen the big compartmentalised frying pan version which looks good - ideal for full cooked brekky.
Does the lot, really all you need in a van, buy an extra lid and you have an oven or two pans.
Easier to flip the pan than flip the toasty, plus most of the smell is eliminated.

Yes, and a week later bought the XL 
Ridge Monkeys really are superb, so versatile. Much easier, no mess and with none of the spitting from a pan.
Comes in a smart stretchy pouch too, handles fit inside so takes very little space.

I bought an XL, I remember opening the box and thinking “if this is XL I’d hate to see a small”.
We have a new ridge monkey for the first time, excellent for toasties but also done a brownie in it too and bacon (less smell with the lid down).
recommend but if you are pre heating it remember to take the plastic insert out before! Left the wife cooking some bagel toasties and came back to the van smelling of burnt plastic!!!

We had a Diablo sandwich toaster but car booted it when we found the frying pan technique!
hi there I have heard about these ridge monkeys but have a couple of queries to those of you who have them or have used them please -
I notice that there seems to be a compact version and a compact XL version - how big are these with regard to using on a camper dometic double gas ring hob - does the smaller one fit neatly on the hob without the pan size spilling over the edge of the cooking surface area? , eg will it stay balanced on the hob top without being held or do you need to keep hold while its on the hob top ? Which size do you find more useful , easier to store etc and do they all separate into two halves and do the handles fold or detatch , thank you so much for any ideas hints and tips - finally what is your favourite make using your ridge monkey? thank you

We have the Compact XL which I think is the most popular size.

Similar to the Double Skillet but not as versatile imho. Popular in Motorhomes, they used to be sold at shows by two ladies but they retired and now sold by this company.

I've cooked oven chips in mine - no problem. Also potato waffles, rosti, fish fingers, fish cakes etc, Particularly good for omelettes too!
Compact XL sits okay on the Dometic hob, and takes up very little room when packed away.
I've not done oven chips, but have heated up chippy chips that had gone a bit cold! Great for heating pies too.
