Roof Spoiler starting to unbond

After my issue with my first spoiler (it fell off!) I have now had a new one put on under warranty by the custom company. This is apparently a mark2 race line spoiler as the first one I had did not fit very well.

Happy with this one though.

When I spoke to VW about possibly doing the work they said it would be a sportline spoiler plus a lot of money.

Yep, that'll be a T6 OEM (or a copy of). Personally I like the T5 version.

Is yours a ‘Mark 1’ Raceline spoiler they said those ones didn’t fit as well, when I went there after my one came off they fitted the Mark 2 either way it shouldn’t happen they also blamed it on the paint not gripping to the spoiler .

Has anyone re-done their own spoilers before? If so, how did you get the old adhesive off? I'm worried about damaging the surface of the spoiler and van.

Unfortunately, the surface might already be damaged from the original install if it was done by VW. But it's not impossible to remove the excess sealer off the top of the tailgate with a little heat, a plastic scraper and a lot of patience.

I watched mine being stuck on, no surface prep thankfully - when it eventually is loose enough to come off it’s going in the skip !

I would like to get rid of mine but got holes drilled in tailgate
