Dead simple fix. Don't need to be a master in vehicle electronic wizardry and all that hocus pocus. The solution is not to replace the camera. As you've been doing today, take the head unit back out of the dash, only this time turn it over, reinsert. TA DA!.@DaveyB it got close to that but I had already drilled a hole in the rear trim so there was no going back. One thing that is annoying me though is that the camera is upside down. I can't rotate it 180 degrees as I have it set to max tilt. I've seen one on eBay though that's a straight swap and is made for pointing down and outwards but it's £25 which is annoying since I've already paid for a camera that I thought could point this way. Oh well
That would probably be easy enough for me as I already have a new cable running to the back of the head unit just now to the reverse trigger. I could disconnect it there and drop it down to that fuse box.I'd drop a new one in, run it to the g shift Lower dash fuse box, and run a piggyback holder..
Martyn, can you elaborate on this a bit please. Trying to get my head around it all. I thought I could just take an ignition live from the fuse box direct to my aftermarket camera. Are you saying i may need to have a relay that the camera trigger behind the headunit sets off? Currently on my headunit (kenwood) when I engage reverse the screen changes to the reverse cam input regardless if I have a camera connected or not (as I have the trigger cable connected to the headunit)I think you might find that you will have to fit a relay in any ign or reverse gear supply that you find at the back.
