tbh though, I’m not sure I want to get another crimping tool, surely the way to go, wherever possible is to replace the pin in the nearest connector.
So the next question is, where can I get the pins from and which crimping tool is used for those?

If you can find a part number on the connector shell, put it into the search box on Ali Express and see if anything comes up that looks similar.
I've managed to find most of the VW connector assemblies that way.

A lot of the connectors seem to use Junior Timer contacts in them which are available in different sizes and current capacities.
I've managed to find most of the VW connector assemblies that way.
