Screen - Excessive moisture

Thanks DXX, that's a great tool. It might take me a few days to get some results but it makes total sense.

Well this morning was totally different. A warmer but rainy day and the inner screen was dry as a bone. I can only conclude that it is simply down to lower temperatures with no decent sun light.

I had moisture in the same area as your pics. Water was getting in around the grommets where the brake light cable comes in. Took light fitting off and sealed around grommets. Also removed rear bumper as water was also getting in around the edge of the black slam vents - again sealed around the edges of vents and the area behind rear wheel arch is now dry.

Thanks, that's good info. Thinking about it, when I've had the back lights off, the grommets are a bit flimsy and a lot of water can run behind the light clusters over time. Massive learning curve already and loads to go...

Is it just the windscreen that gets really wet? Or side and rear windows as well?

Normally it's just the windscreen but occasionally the drivers window can hold moisture aswell. The 2 side windows and the rear door windows are boarded up at this time of year mainly for security reasons, plus they are within the 'insulated' area.
Its similar to when you sleep in the van with limited ventilation. (I suspect that with a pop-top, even if not fully elevated, you could crack it open a smidge to vent). I'm going to try a few ideas that have been suggested. In the grand scheme of things, I don't mind wiping the screen as I'm never in a rush but until Spring arrives, I cant see me getting to the bottom of it during winter - I'll just manage it.

The screen is totally clear this morning but it is 7° today and mild.

We’re getting this occasionally in the van and SWMBO’s car.

If we have a sunny day, even if its cold, once the sun is on the vehicles I’ll just drop the windows an inch then shut them before it damps down for the night. Condensation goes away for a few days.

The other thing I do is open the window a similar amount when out and about so some of the warm moisture laden air can escape. Just notch the heater up to compensate.

I think if its occasionally then nothing to worry about. If the windows are streaming in water every time it gets cold outside go looking for an ingress issue.

Thanks Ian, I will give that a go aswell.

Is there a opening in the T6 that doesn't leak or let moisture in etc?

B post is soaked, C post soaked both nearside only! Rear hatch OS pillar soaked!

The rear spoiler is stuck on, no bolts, rear brake light seems fine etc. I've used a faux suede lining mostly thinner than carpet. But having read about the seals leaking if carpet goes under them I removed the fabric on the offside from under the seal and appears to be drying out! Will keep an eye! (Left NS to compare at this point)

Bottom of the B post NS is pretty damp I seem to remember something about bolts within the fuel filler area need to be sealed, can anyone shed light please?

C post NS drenched towards the bottom can't see any reason as above the "window line" it's dry!!
I'm wondering if just spraying Dinitrol etc. into the cavity will seal from the inside?

Re windscreen wet yep that anorl I turn heating knob to hot, vents closed , and direction of heat to floor seems to help somewhat ( as in I don't need a hand towel !)
And lastly ! Floor drivers footwell, needed to run an accessory wire to rear of van so this morning pulled up the rubber matting, and it's wet!

My old T25 was always dry as a bone! Carpeted, units etc etc never a problem!
The cab area of my T6 is as it came out of the factory ! Plastic covers everywhere probably with rivers of water as well!

Anybody with any work around advice muchly appreciated!

Do you have roof bars fitted ?
Our T6 is bone dry.

So you should leave air con in all the time....even if not needed?
Mines hardly ever on so if that's a cause that would explain it
Yes you should run Aircon often including during winter 1. To keep the system operative and to ensure the compressor doesn't seize and seals stay lubricated. 2 to dry out any moisture that's in the van.

As an idea of how effective it is at work some numpty often leaves the car window open and the seats are absolutely soaked after rain.

I put heater on max, max fan and fresh plus Aircon. After 45 mins the seats are perfectly dry.

Without aircon it takes about 2 hours or more for a still very slightly damp feeling.
