Screwing items into the bottom of a pop top bed/base

@Bluey22. On the sliding cover thingy, they are very easy to fabricate if you wanted one. Personally, I made mine because I just couldn't stand the sight of the bunched up roof material in the front 18" or so of the roof. It also cuts down on the noise when going along at motorway speeds.

I put a couple of strap handles in mine to help bring the bed base down whilst I’m in the loading area. The near to cargo net only gets used when it is up.

I've got one of these ROKK items with a fixing point on both the underside of my bed-board (see image below) and the top of my sliding bed-board cabin cover...

...with the idea being, I can attach the bracket for my tablet either down below or up top. The image above shows the fixing point 'recessed' in the cushioned bed-board, cos like @DXX says, you'll be surprised (not) at how many times you'll bang your head on everything in the van ;)

I've also got a suction-cup for the same bracket so that it can be used outside of the van:

Not a cheap bit of kit (I seem to use that phrase a lot when it comes to my T6 money-pit)...but it's very handy

Buying this RIGHT NOW!! This looks an awesome bit of kit

I’m going to have a think about this for sure. The road roar on the motorway is excessive.

Like the look of those cargo nets. Do they just wrap around the black fittings or are they permanently attached to them?
They wrap around, I use 5mm elastic cord and learned how to make them from utube, it’s just a series of reef knots, the difficult part is making them from one continuous length. They are so useful, I put them everywhere. The mushrooms are low profile and lower than the rails the board slides along, so not a problem. I used 5mm riv-nuts on the doors and the supplied self tappers for the bed base.

Can a Ceiling Mounted Tv with 19" cello tv/dvd be screwed straight onto pop roof bed underside/ ceiling?

want it to be placed at drivers end, so can be watched in bed etc

will it hold ok or does the bed need additional support for the weight?

Any advise would be grateful for

Cheers

It depends on loading on the upper bed when in use and how much flex occurs - this will be more critical than the actual weight of the unit I suspect.
Could end up popping the TV casing or ripping out screw holes if flex is excessive.

We just bought a mini projector for home use but it can be USB or even battery pack powered (and use the mobile as a hotspot) so we talked about putting it on the van floor pointed at the ceiling (the underside of the pop top bed). The projector is HD, has a great built in speaker and can go to a 100” effective screen!
The ceiling is gloss white - might shop round for some matt white, or even pale grey, vinyl to reduce reflection and potential eye strain.
Beauty of having a portable projector is we can use the it wherever- in the house, van, garden, tent...

The upper bed doesn't get used at all and never will. Always used the lower bed.

Sadly funds don't allow me a nice projector etc

Then I don’t see it would be an issue mounting the TV. Our upper bed supports two people (does flex a little bit always returns to a flat board) so a TV wouldn’t trouble it weight wise.

Yes it has built in channel including Prime, Disney+, Netflix, along with iPlayer, ITV+, four and five. You can also cast your phone/tablet screen to it directly and it works full screen.

It’s proven really popular at home because of all that - so much so the little TV hardly sees any use (that was an older LG smart TV so misses some of the channels the projector has).

The projector is a Samsung called ‘The Freestyle’. I’m not normally a big Samsung fan but this is impressive and although not cheap it has everything you’d want a projector to have.

It’s this one.

Just has a flat plate on the bottom so needs to go on the counter top or the floor in the van depending on where you want to view it from.
