Service Book

Thanks for the replies, time to put my house back together after looking for something I never had in the first place.
Same as we did 2 days ago, searching the home for ages looking for the book just to be told from the dealers that they no longer have them since 2017 and its on-line but I still cannot find how to view my van on there. rubbish site.

If it helps, my 2017 T6 came with a service book

You should still get a print-out / receipt every time the VW dealer works on your van so can keep those to demonstrate the service history. For those buying books for their 2018+ vans, I expect the dealer will still fill them in and stamp them for you?

So will it be possible to get the service history from vw if it is going digital now? My old T5 had VW history up to 80k and they wouldnt give me copies. Hopefully they have changed that.

Weird how its not digitally stamped into the ECU or SD card of some sort........wont be long.

The problem with online history is a few years down the line, will the new owner be able to access that history in future? I can imagine dealers quoting GDPR and not being able to provide a copy.

I think I paid £10 for a book, my dealer is happy to stamp it for all the work carried out. I'm an anorak and have a folder with every single receipt for every piece of work ever carried out.

Hi guys,
I started looking through all my paperwork after not having a service book but the dealer told me they didn’t issue them now, it’s all on their system.....

Will be looking for a book and will get the dealer to make up the one service it’s had when I take it in for its next.

I am little confused I was passed on a service book when I purchased the van last October
I have asked the dealership and not received a reply ?
Is there a physical book or is it electronic if so how I do access it to check the services already carried out as second owner ? Also given it’s had a replaced alternator and another repair to ECR should this be recorded ?

Believe it's all electronic nowadays, stored centrally on the VW mother ship - though my van hasn't yet had its first service, so I'm not talking from first hand experience.

Mine is a 2019 and doesn't have a physical service book, you need to request a printout from the dealer if you want to know the service history.

There was no service book when I bought mine in 2017 so I purchased a book which the dealer has stamped in addition to the electronic record.

Yep as above, digital records held by the vw network. You can request a pdf print out of services done (i only got an a4 sheet at service mileages) but its not a record of all work it's had.
Although they hold everything it will be in than last owners name and they are not allowed to pass it on because of GDP law
I was told to get the old owner to request everything they hold and to pass it on.
Wish they still did the paper book

I store mine digitally. Granted, there’s no stamp, but I’m keeping my van for the foreseeable.

There was no service book when I bought mine in 2017 so I purchased a book which the dealer has stamped in addition to the electronic record.

Likewise, I bought a generic VW service book from Amazon and ask the garage to stamp it as well as updating the electronic records.

I’m in the same boat but got an empty book.
My vans only got 46k on it and the converter changed the belt and pump and full service before I picked it up. But would still like to be able to see that my van has the FSH it was sold as.
