SPOTTED - 'Was it you?' thread

Love this thread (watching from Australia). Not many Cali’s here so spotting them is even more fun! We have an indium grey Aussie spec Beach 6.1. Was joined by another indium grey 6.1 on a recent trip! About to do a loop from Brisbane to Melbourne and back (-4200km) and will post any other Calis spotted on our travels…

Now in Holbrook, NSW, Australia which used to be called Germanton but was renamed in WW1. This converted transporter was snapped parked in front of the HMAS Otway whose final resting place is now in the park at Holbrook (nee Germanton).

Still heading for the trees….the historical name of the place isn’t helping my conspiracy paranoia!!!

Spotted another grey converted Transporter over the road from the court house at Beechworth, NSW, Australia. This is where Ned Kelly the bush ranger was sentenced to death. Notice how most VWs here are grey converted Transporters?

Always love reading postings from “Down Under” especially when they are peppered with historical or cultural references. Ned Kelly - the original Irish “bad ‘un” that gave rise to a folklore of its own akin to Billy the Kid etc.

I’m sure some navy types on here will explain why the distinction of RAN/HMAS and RN/HMS was granted.

Keep up the great posting

You would think any vehicle with a name sounding similar to Transportation could be at a sales disadvantage there?
The grey plumage on the other hand blends perfectly here in Blighty with the leaden sky and dried road salt rendering the van nearly invisible for 11 months of the year, in Oz it's quite a strong contrast.
