Where are yours rubbing?

This is sat on 275/35 20 and full lowered on STX - This is the size for up to T30
Or a 265/40 for T32

Just down size your tyres and you will have no furred issues

What offset are you wheels?

Rubbing on the top of the arch when you hit a sharp bump in the road.

About due some new fronts so will go for 265/40’s as I’m T32.

Not sure of the offset.
Will have to take one off and have a look.
What are they on the one in the thread above please?

Cheers

This is a screw and a tab at the arch. Remove the screw and bend the tab up with the liner behind. This will help.
But yes go for the 265/40.

When you say that you don't want to be on the tiles do you have a particular stance in mind, or have you got pics of the stance you are trying to achieve? Solows start at around 100mm drop at the highest setting which is pretty low with 20s, but it can be done. As a comparison, here's a pic of my van at about 85mm down with staggered 20s, no rubbing front or back. If you think you want it lower then SoLows could be for you, but if this is low enough it opens up other options too.

What tyre sizes you running here mate

Hi everyone sorry this has probably been asked before, I have just bought a set of 20” staggered wheels for my T6 caravelle. 255/45/20 8.5j on the front and 265/40/20 10.5j on the rear. With the different tyre depths will I get any issues with the ABS. Cheers Phil

Morning all.

Just fitted my Rotiform DTM's in 8.5 / 10 on 245/45 & 275/40 to my T32. These sizes keep it legal (load rated), and the same 5% speedo change which isn't an issue. I'm getting a little rubbing on the front when hitting bumps but I'm yet to do the front arch mod so I think that'll sort it. B14 comfort lows all the way down on the front and about 25 mm from the lowest on the rear so she's ok to put my tools in the back. I'll report back...

Chuffed with the look though.

Hi,
Have just ordered a set of 20” wheels from Leighton parts and need to order tyres.
Wheels are staggered so 8.5 front and 10 rear.
Van is on 50mm adjustable springs
Was thinking of 245/45 on the front and 265/40 on the rear.
Would just like to know if this is the right way to go as I know there is a lot of people on here that know their stuff!
Thanks.

I have LV1 and started out with 275/40/20 all round.
Went over to 245/45/20 on the front and there is a big difference in steering, initial pickup, drive ability etc. Also the overhand with a 275 on the 8.5 is quite big and I believe has been mentioned before that it is higher than the industry tyre spec for 8.5j rims which I think is max 265.
If you have a 4Motion then you will need 275/40 rear with 245/45 up front to keep the circumference the same.IMG_4220.jpeg

Sounds like staggered tyres is the way to go, i.e. 245/45 on front. I do get a rub on full lock.
Will change mine down when time comes.
Thanks Bigsi

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the 275 rubbed. That also went away with the 245.
Don’t change them until all the tread has fallen off the current ones. It’s not that critical. I ran mine with 275 up front for at least a year.

I've got the LV1, running 275/40/20 Rainsports all round which were provided and fitted by Leighton. They also dropped the van 40mm on springs.

Rubs slightly on full lock on the front (easily avoidable).

In my opinion the rears look spot on with 275/40/20 but the fronts are too big. You get a slight overhang of the rim with the tyre and it creates quite a bit of road noise.

I've done about 8k on them so far and although fine i'll be moving to 245/45/20 on the front and sticking with 275/40/20 on the rear when replacements are needed.

Yep 245/45/20 on the front and 275/40/20 on the rear. Plenty of choice with 275/40/20 as they are a popular tyre on other vehicles. Also with this set up the rolling radius is virtually the same.

@howler1975 where did you get the VW centre caps from if you don't mind me asking and are they easy to swap? I've still got the Leighton ones in which are green but all the detailing on my van is blue to makes sense to swap them. Cheers
Hi Click83, the centre caps were made by the gent whom I purchased the wheels from. Basically purchased standard plastic VW caps, trimmed of the clips and glued the faces to the original Leighton caps. Look perfect, and tbh i'm not keen on the original green and black colours of the Leighton badge.

Nice one might have a go at that

I got some domed metal centre cap covers that stick over the Leighton badge with 3m tape. Been on 2 years and jetwashed to death and they are still good.
