Disklok has a new steering wheel cover on the market (gold) with anti angle grinder material. Would be interesting to see a test of its ability to withstand attack

My new camper (just 6 more days!!!) has a Thatcham 1 alarm and immobiliser, but I'm putting my faith in the new Disklok Diamond that I have on standby. They're a pain, but having spent 8 years on an autocrime team I never once came across a vehicle that was successfully stolen with one on board no matter how hard they tried.




And for good measure I'm going to conceal an obvious decoy SIM tracker that they'll doubtless congratulate themselves on finding, with another properly concealed and protected.

And our driveway only has one way in and it's covered by an IR beam which pings a doorbell type chime in the house (which in turn sends Bruce banzai) so unless they zip line in from a helicopter they won't even be albe to approach it without me knowing,

@Sasquatch, it's great to have your professional insight on the use of a Disklok. When you say no vehicle successfully stolen with one, are you referring specifically to the diamond version or just to the Dislock in general?

I have a non-diamond version as my "visible deterrent", but I have always wondered how easily a professional scumbag could overcome it (consoling myself that, at the very least, it would deter a willing amateur).

To the Disklok in general.

The Gold is fairly recent, just minor tweaks to increase lock reliability.

The Diamond only came out a few months ago and has a special steel blend in key areas to resist angle grinder attack, but for all these improvements I - and we as a team - never came across one that had been successfully stolen with the original version and battery grinders were well and truly a thing by then.

We saw plenty of home CCTV where the sheets turn up, spot the disklok, shake their heads and head off without even touching the car. All but impossible to remove (even Trumpton struggle with all their heavyweight gear) and the noise they'd make would be seriously loud, so in most cases they'd spot the DL, move on, and steal a similar model from a neighbour instead.

Very reassuring, I've always thought that the Disklok looks a lot more substantial than the Stoplok type things.

I would say so. Two quick snips of the wheel itself and the Stoplock is off.

Indeed. Trumpton is the affectionate name. Water fairies is the less kind moniker.

I can confirm.
There is a sometimes difficult relationship between old bill and trumpton. I think it stems from them putting the fire out and effing off leaving cops to clear up everything
