Still Knocking On My Rear B14s

The two bottom spring coils are touching each other in the video, backed up by the photos showing the rubbed paint on the spring.
Is that normal, seems odd if it is?

They are in deed supposed to do that . The dual rated spring is designed like that to allow the lowering required and to be able to stretch open enough to stay tight in the mounts when the car is on a lift and off the ground

Thanks for the explanation, live and learn;)

For the people struggling with issues on the rear suspension , IE Springs breaking and noises , we have a retro fit kit to correct it now , A new spring and adjuster , the original shock can still be used .

I deal a lot with Bilstein so if you need any help let me know.

Hi Oli

I wonder if you can help, I've had the same problems as mentioned on this post. The supplier changed one of the front drop links which has improved the clunking/knocking on the front however the rear remains. They state they've stripped the whole set up and can't identify any problems. They've been in contact with Bilstein to explain yet have had no response. Do you have a copy of any correspondence you've sent or been sent?, it's driving me nuts and I'm contemplating having them removed completely.

My van is a T32 SWB with H&R ARB's fitted running on Devonports if that helps.

Thanks

Si

As a last measure ( before removing them completely ) i can supply a new back end spring kit , which can sort the problem out properly . I fear replacing rear springs "like for like" will prolong the agony . I have put a few rear spring kits in to stock to help clients with B 14 rear issues .

Not sure I want to folk out anymore if it can be resolved under warranty or by a simple modification as they've got a good rep, but thanks for the offer

Are you local for us to take a look? We had one in the other day, fitted by a well known 'suspension seller with free fitting', and they were fitted loose and not aligned - We sorted it all no problem. Unfortunately without seeing it and road testing we can't be much more help remotely. I will say that the warranty with Bilstein is awesome, and they will get onto it. Have you taken it back where they were fitted and what did they say?

And I agree you should have to pay out more for something that is warranty!

Unfortunately not, I'm based in Swansea. They state they've spent 5 hours on it, replaced the drop link on the front offside (it was the front nearside which was knocking more) The rear is still knocking but only over speed humps or changing camber.
They're looking to bill me for the drop link and 2 hours labour and can't find anything wrong with the kit.

The company is a well respected conversion company and has excellent reviews so trust the owner but I've been back twice since they were fitted in January and still not right.

He has offered to replace the B14's, swap for a different brand coilovers or return my standard suspension on.

Have you had a chat with Bilstein directly? There is a modified rear shock absorber/bush available

Ok. If you get nowhere with a Bilstein let me know and I’ll copy to you into an email with them.

No joy, Aaron their Bilstein rep cannot offer any technical support! So frustrating

Update. They've had a response from Bilstein to say

"Without listening to it I guess it will be difficult,

Did you check where the bushes fit sometimes lately there has been an overrun of metal and the bush doesn’t fit correctly

In this case it just needs filing down (the chassis not the bush)"

Garage have confirmed that this would not have been checked as completely unheard of in their experience of fitting these kits.

Dragging up an old post... @foggy3061 did you ever get resolved?

I think i may have the same issue with a T6 I have just purchased and would love to know how to resolve it. Thanks!
