Stitches & Steel 18" Wheels & General Grabber AT3s

Hope you didnt pay over the odds for those steels as they look like the JBW ones with the S&S stamp in them. I was tempted to try something like this but I use 99% on road so wasted. Looks cool.

£800 inc the general grabbers made them about £50/wheel can’t complain at that. These are mainly run on the road but good fun and no worries about curbs!

Looking to change my tyres. But not know on the size to go for. Like the grabbers but worry about loosing the gearing. Not sure between 255/55/18 and 235/55/18. The road biased once o took off were 245/45/18 but too slim profile and no good with kerbs etc. Any more thoughts on tyre width being best for campers?

I ended up taking the 255's off as did a lot of motorway miles and they were just a bit big, I now have a set of Avon AX7's in 235/55/18 which I would say are the perfect mix of offroad looks / on-road comfort.

Great looking van mate, have you any photos with the new tyres on? Were the 255's noisy?

@Stevie205 cheers mate. Bit of a curveball but today I just had these Supermetal Rockets fitted by @BognorMotors and couldn’t be happier! Still using my 235/55/18 Avon Ax7s. I couldn’t get the steels to balance up that well and kept getting wheel shake. I even tried some Amarok steels and they needed 140g of weight! Think I just had some rough luck it all finally sorted and well chuffed with this setup!

Couldn’t tell a huge difference between 255 general grabbers / these 235 ax7s / or standard tyres on Devonports

They look awesome.

@BognorMotors Cheers Oli, I’m well chuffed and Simon has been an absolute legend throughout! Time to get cracking with the Golf R next

Hi, is that with any spacers?

Chaps - I have to deal with some deepish snow on tracks in Scotland : so i've raised by 45mm ( Mad!! ) and am going to fit 255/55-18 BFG All Terrains

Will I need spacers to get home from the tyre fitting shop?

Its a T6 4wd 32.

Cheers

Should be fine if you’re jacked up, mine only just caught on full lock at standard ride height. They are a big tyre though so expect a bit more road noise and a slightly heavier steering wheel. Nothing mad though

A lowered Swamper is a bit of an oxymoron.
Here is mine on -55mm Cobra spings

Keep going back and forth between deciding for 17 or 18 inch....love the looks of the 18's in this thread!

But.....this makes me greedy for 17. Especially like that the rims are deep, bit the fronts don't seem to stick out.

What wheels and tires are these? ET?

They were 16”

They were 16”

Oh ok 16 even! Mine won't be lowered so 16 won't look as good I'm afraid...

Wasn't et25 too wide up front?

I was also looking at modulars but couldn't find similar decent pricing here in the EU. So am deciding on an X5, amarok or range/disco setup now

ET25 and 8” was just right.

Worth mentioning that 16” won’t fit over T32 brakes - not sure what van you have.

This is my same van, same wheel and tyre but back on OEM/standard suspension….

Gotta say, all in all yr van is just my style . Special without being too loud.

Imo the stance of the rears is perfect, fronts could move in by 10 mm or so....

But thanks for sharing, didn't think et25 could work out so nice.

Which makes my quest a little more difficult again

225 tires?
