swamper over sized wheel carrier

The metal wheel carrier needs the two lugs at the front extending, welding, and the two bolts at the back need to be longer/ extended.
I did this myself as I have a mig welder and bought some longer bolts of eBay. Also cut a piece of old galvanised water pipe for the spacers between the bolt head and the carrier/ body and sprayed them black. Good to go. Cost me about £15 :p
Alternatively….

Here’s my cut & shut basically bought a second carrier for £20 on eBay chopped it up to extend the length and depth. Pics or idea are not mine but works a treat on BFG’s 245/65/17 and once it’s sprayed, looks factory View attachment 154131View attachment 154132
I’ve got the same size wheels/tyres as you. Did you have to cut or alter the plastic tray to fit the spare under the van or was it just the carrier that needed altering?
Thanks

Oh, and I cut the tray as I wanted the tyre fully inflated. The Seikel instructions are on the web for download but you basically just jigsaw this bit off and waxoyl the tyre wellView attachment 154153 As above, might have been waxoyl or lanoguard can’t remember which. You’ll need some muscle to fit it as they are flippin heavy, or cheat and use a jack on the carrier as I did ! highly recommend getting a wheel mount guide to throw in your van for if you do need to swap. Cheap as chips on ebay

And just a heads up, my van came with the HESS wheel carrier, it was a tight squeeze to fit a part worn 235 65 17 General grabber in there, anything bigger your have to deflate to fitIMG_3422.jpeg
