T6.1 new order delays

Well I ordered my 450 4 motion in December 2020 and was told in October 2021 that it was built. now I have been told by the dealer that it is back in the factory getting missing components fitted and I may see it in May 2022. I can get nothing out of VW Australia as they will not comment on the delays. How a company this big can be so bad at customer updates and keeping customers up dated.
My dealer tells me they can not get an answer out of VW. Come on VW get your act together , We like your product but not keen on the service you provide. Hope to get my van before I am too old to drive and they take my license away from me.

Just spoken to my dealer (JCB VW Van Centre, Ashford, Kent).

The status of my order is still "00" after 8.5 months of waiting. I think that's equates to VW saying "Order? What order?"

When I asked if a March delivery was still feasible (the guesstimate he gave me only 7 weeks earlier) he just laughed. I was not impressed by that reaction, and even less impressed to hear "March - no chance; April - probably not; May - possibly"
Ordered my LWB Kombi (150 4Motion) from them last March (21). Have been told that despite the lack of a firm build date on the system, it is on a list of vans that VW have told the dealer will be built in March 22.

That said, I have heard from a converter that there are current issues with providing tow bar electrics and power latches, and I have both of those in my spec.... Not holding my breath for March, then.

Dealer has been very helpful so I try not to plague them too often. VW on the other hand; grrrrr, in addition to the delay if I want to add in the £[naf all] option of the easy access rear seat (which I forgot in the order), they will re-price my whole order to current list. I did think about cancelling many months ago, but the market is short on 4WD van options and none of alternatives at the time were looking any better timing-wise.

I've been updated again today...mine is at the port waiting to be shipped...I would imagine there must be several 6.1 coming

Had some news out of the blue which might give everyone some hope..

I placed my order 2nd July 2021, dealer said expect delivery July 2022 (wasn't holding my breath). Since then I've been on here checking this thread religiously and checking with the dealership every few weeks.

To be fair, my guy at VW Cardiff has been good as gold and has always been very honest with me, told me how it is... which usually goes along the lines of.. "No news, sorry mate".

Then without warning, my guy called me yesterday and told me that not only was my van built, it's currently at the port in Germany awaiting shipping!!
I was absolutely gobsmacked!! As was my VW dealer!!

Last time he checked the status it didn't even have a build week and all of a sudden it's built and ready to go. Estimated to be in the UK in 2 weeks from now he reckons.

Van Spec is - SWB, T32, DSG, Ind Grey, 150, LED Heads, Power Latching sides and Tail, Twin Swivel Heated Captains Chairs, Park/Lane Assist, Discover Media, Hi Beam, Rear Cam, Upgrade Batt & Alternator, 80L Tank

Up until now, me and the dealership were kept in the dark about every stage of the build - which is pretty disgusting customer service given the already lengthy delays. The endless frustration and total lack of information was beginning to leave a sour taste in my mouth, but you know what.. as soon as I got that call it all went away!

I'd say to everyone waiting on a new bus Don't give up hope, even though your dealership or supplier might have ZERO information that's not to say nothing is happening.

You'll get your call like I did and you'll be over the bloody moon.

Almost the exact same scenario as me...my dealer is in Chelmsford

Me too

On the upside, if your van is delivered after they end of March, VW will charge you current list anyway. Once they've stiffed you with that, then you can add any forgotten options without fear of being further stiffed. (There's logic in there somewhere... probably... maybe...)

I hear ya buddy. I'm sure I'll be over the moon whenever I get that call, but I've just had to push back my conversion slot by 2 months despite having recently paid them a £10k deposit [deep sigh].

I'm 1 year and 2 days in and still no van.. That's not including the 6 months wasted with my first order that went Pete Tong..

I hope I get some news soon too.

Ordered mine from Swansea end of Sept. Phoned them today but no dates at all for build but guessing another few months going when you ordered yours. Hopefully will get a call out of the blue like you though.

The sour taste in my mouth is still increasing...this is getting so dull now. Just cant fathom out how later orders with similar specs are coming through sooner than expected but with no information whatsoever about our much older orders. Ordered 11 months ago.
I feel for you guys who have waited longer and congratulate you guys who are getting yours sooner than anticipated.

@Bav do you know what that is a very good way of putting it . I might change up a few things spec wise if I get to the March deadline. Never really thought of it that way .

Am still hoping am getting a call saying van is at dealership

This is very much my feeling (coming up 11 month wait). So many vans coming through with big specs that were ordered later. Seems over in Germany there is no logic in what gets built when. Dealers have just as little idea of whats going on as us customers.

My order was allocated for build January but never confirmed and is now just jumping around, currently at week 14 last time I checked!

I did get a bit info from Oli who had been informed on specific things potentially holding up builds (it was tailgate with window aperture on my order)

Add on the fact that if the van we've ordered doesn't turn up before march 31st they want another £1700 just for the pleasure, Complete Joke...

Can I ask where you are getting the figure of £1700 from , has the dealer told you this is what it’s going up by . Just so I know what to expect
