T6.1 new order delays

I feel your pain, but on a positive note, you win.

I don’t think anyone else on this forum has waited that long and if I was in your position, I would’ve given up reading this forum.

Are you at the stage in thinking “that some things aren’t meant to be”?

They have to be built eventually, don’t they?

Well…there’s a small possibility the German government musters up the courage to act in a morally reasonable manner and joins the embargo on Russian gas and oil. This equals problem for VW and the national economy.
More likely, they continue to pay billions into Vladimir the Bastards war chest. Effectively funding genocide.
Still want your van?

Do you think if we all cancelled our van orders that it would make a jot of difference to Putin?

Thought not.

The factory reopened last week as we’ve had a van complete build. Numbers are still very limited due to parts shortages and being advised this will continue in the future. So limited that the dealer we use, like all dealers is being allocated about 40 retail build slots in the next 3 months. Rental build slots are on top of this.

And then there is the price increase on May 1st …….(apparently price protected)

not sure how many components are shared with the new caddy but Vw dealer is quoting 6 months for new works caddy van although our transporter is looking minimum 12 months. Although this is only in writing on a quote so not guaranteed............

Good to see someone is in the know .

I might be being stupid here but if dealers know roughly they are getting 40 slots in the next 3 months surely they will be some sort of logic to it , of course parts shortages come into it but I just can’t understand why there isn’t a plan of what they can build so that they can complete orders.

Oli have you heard anything from your dealer about any price protection from orders made last year ?

This is my understanding as retail and rental purchaser of VW Vans and speaking to VW dealers on a daily basis.

There is a very poor line of communication between the dealer- VW UK and VW Germany presently(Germany seem to be the main issue here) . Orders are being submitted in the correct order and i”are being overridden by the system , vehicles are bing partially built, and in other cases vehicles are suddenly turning up that they had no indication of. It’s really hard work for the dealers at present. Until parts supply is restored I see it being very slow for at least a few months.

Price protection ran out up to the end of March. Beyond this there is none. My recommendation if your vehicle falls into this bracket, is to send an email to VW complaining.

There is however price protection against the lastest price increase due in May if ordered and retail SLI confirmed before the end of March 2022. Confusing I know and there are some exceptions - This is my understanding of how it’s going to work.

I ordered LWB Highline 4motion, swivel seats in front, 2+1 bench in rear, tailgate closing, led lights, in June 21, build date was Jan 22. Came and went, next one was March. Been informed now been built and waiting for delivery to UK. Going to cost an extra 2000.

Similar order to mine ordered Mid march '21. Good for you @Bikerbuoyuk, but again no rhyme or reason to VW orders!:waving::waving:Hello, anyone there VW??

Think I'm confused too mate. Let me try and summarise - as much for myself as for you!

Pre-pandemic, VW's policy was to guarantee that the price you agreed at order would be the price you paid at delivery - known as price protection. Recently, my dealer informed me that any van delivered after 31 March would lose price protection and that the list price as at delivery would be payable. That message has been relayed by other dealers to others on this thread, though by no means by all dealers.

VW's reasoning for this change in policy was that, with longer delivery times and higher rates of inflation, their profit margin was being significantly eroded (and, frankly, they'd much prefer it if their customers suffered those loses, rather than themselves).

However, @Stuart Docchar's dealer has, today, given a different message: namely that only vans ordered after 31 March will lose price protection, which would indicate a significant change of heart from VW. Given that many on this thread, like myself, have been waiting for their vans for 10+ months and that there have been several intervening price rises (with potentially more before we see our vans), this is potentially very good news. I say potentially, only because I can't totally discount the possibility that @Stuart Docchar's dealer is "off-message".

Hope the above helps, and apologies if any of it is teaching you how to suck eggs.
I've just had a 2000 price increase, kept my discount though

Well then I had call from main dealer today there has been a meeting at vw HQ and anybody with vans on order up to The 31st March will not have to pay any extra or any price increase any thing ordered after that will pay more
I ordered mine last June, just left factory but I have to pay 2grand extra. Did they give this info in writing or email? Ta

Oh no, sorry..I still hope you get your van and that’s okay…just wanted to point out that by refusing to join the gas and oil embargo the the German governments is thwarting the effects of all other sanctions.
My apologies, I have family in the the Ukraine..it’s a difficult time for us.
Love and peace

I'm sorry too. I didn't mean to bite your head off.

I totally agree re the German government's energy policy. Unfortunately the damage was done over the last 15 years by Merkel. Her decision to close Germany's nuclear facilities. and then to make themselves beholden to Russia for gas imports was the height of stupidity and short-sightedness. Unfortunately, the Germans now have few alternatives without crashing their economy (and early 20th century history shows how Germans react when their economy tanks!!!)

You, your family and the Ukrainian diaspora are in my prayers.

Well what do yer know...Vw dangled the carrot, again, a few weeks back, and now yet again they've removed it!. No real reason concerning my order but generally the situation in Ukraine and parts shortages.
