T6.1 new order delays

Assured by dealer this morning we are in build. Ordered May 2021. Highline 4 motion manual with one of everything. Not quite at holding breath stage just yet.

I suspect it will still be 13 or 14 months from order to picking it up assuming it actually really happens.

My T5 took 8 weeks from order to picking it up 16 years ago. How times have changed.

Tis true, unfortunately.

Like you, I ordered May 2021 (my "anniversary" was last Friday), but I'm still waiting for a build date of any sort. At this stage, even a provisional date would assure me that my order hasn't fallen down the back of the filing cabinet.

Dealer have just given me some more dreadful news build week moved from 26 to 42, I ordered May 21. He said they expect it to arrive Nov/Dec 22. I think I'm going to cancel it tbh.

Horrors! I ordered in September 2021, was given a build week of 33, which has now been 'removed' by VW and no build date week now allocated.

Maybe I won't have a van in 2022...

Don't cancel unless absolutely necessary. The dealership will still process the order and - quite legitimately - have the vehicle as stock, making a tidy profit on it. The person making the profit may as well be you; even if you no longer want it, you'd be best accepting the van and then selling it on.

It's being financed on a non regulated agreement which will mean I'll be liable for all the interest if I was to sell and settle the agreement.

Sound advice there - some of the pre-reg prices on the forecourt are just NUTS

Check though that you can just sell it on... I've heard of some dealers putting a non-sale clause in until 12 months or so has elapsed...

Which dealer did you order through?

Personally I would ignore what build week the system says, they are pulling orders through randomly at the minute - I certainly wouldn't cancel either, as it will be an easy sell if you don't want it

Out of the blue had a call the other day saying it will be ready July/August, originally ordered locally last summer then cancelled and ordered elsewhere again in February this year as it worked out 11% cheaper with price protection. Was looking at a 2023 build date but after call from main dealer maybe I will be lucky......tbh build dates etc seem a lottery and Im happy with either date...

There's just no fathoming VW's current build scheduling. You ordered in Feb 22 and get a call to say July/August delivery, whereas @VWSAWKS ordered May 21 and gets a call to say late November/December delivery!! I don't begrudge you your good news, but where's the justice (or even logic) in that?

My dealer said it is totally spec dependant. If you have ticked a certain box (who knows what...) you could have inadvertently added a year to your lead time!

Otherwise the VW gods may smile upon you if you have sat on your hands whilst ordering your 'dub and gone for NO options & extras...!

agree totally was a bit unexpected but not counting on it yet, told will have an update in 2/3 weeks. Will have to work out what our T6 is worth...

Yeah, I've heard all the chatter - even contributed myself - but it's all unsubstantiated speculation. For any option that can be suggested as causing the delays, there's examples on this thread that will refute that suggestion. Like I say, it's unfathomable without a full picture of all the facts (which VW will never reveal).

You do right not to count on it - all dates must be taken with a huge mound of salt currently - but I hope it happens for you.
